The evolution of the world in itself is something to look forward to in Cataclysm.
Do you remember the days in early WoW when you found yourself doing quests for this Tirion Fordring guy? "Who is he and why does he want me to kill so many things?" you may have asked yourself. Well, after doing the quest chain, you got some insight into who he actually was and who he might actually turn out to be. He was part of the Silver Hand and banished due to him helping an honorable Orc. You learn just a little more about honor and your hatred grows towards the expanding war between the Alliance and Horde.
Illidan then became a major threat and Outland of greater importance. Tirion was forgotten once more. Your hatred of the expanding war was forgotten and the honor you knew only applied itself when fighting one of your own in a duel or challenge, no honor for the filthy enemy.
But, eventually, the Lich King came and we got to see Tirion Fordring -- the same man who spent his time alone, sulking -- finally snap out of his lonesome state and do something about the Scourge, to do something about the hatred that fueled the fires between the Horde and Alliance and try to unite the both of them for one purpose: kill the Lich King. Maybe, you think, Tirion can combine these factions. Maybe, you think, we can get along to take down this major threat and get along with one another rather than cling to the old hatreds.
And then Garrosh Hellscream found his way into the Horde along with Varian Wrynn into the Alliance. The old hatreds spawn again, and the game evolves once more.
It's this evolution that really does keep one's interest in the game. "What next?" is the question that should be asked about Cataclysm. What next for the Alliance and Horde? What next for Gilneas with Sylvannas expanding her forces so closely? What next for the Goblins in Azshara?
What next for Azeroth? This is what I'm looking forward to finding out.
