I'm incredibly excited about dwarf shamans.
Back when enhancement shamans got dual wielding, I thought it would be awesome if dwarves could play that spec. The more I thought about it, the more I thought shamanistic dwarves was a really cool concept. Fast forward several years and I finally get the chance!
I started WoW on release day wanting to play a paladin. I leveled to 35, hated it, and rerolled a dwarf hunter. In TBC, I leveled a dwarf paladin to 70 since they had crusader strike and were much more fun, but it was still an alt to the hunter. In WotLK, retribution paladins were finally fun to play (talking rotation/play style, not power!), so that became my main. As soon as Cataclysm was announced, along with dwarves being able to play shamans, I knew what my main was going to be.
Now, I have a full backstory for my character. The dwarf hunter, paladin, and future shaman are all the same person. Born from a Bronzebeard mother and a Dark Iron father, he grew up mostly in Loch Modan and became a hunter. Ultimately, he overcame (most) suspicions about his loyalties to the Bronzebeard clan, and was allowed into the order of paladins. However, he continues to experience suspicions from some. In Northrend, he sees Ulduar and the origins of the dwarves, comes to believe that the dwarves should pursue knowledge of their past, and feels that the Light is more for humans than dwarves. When the Cataclysm happens, Magni's sacrifice will confirm his thoughts and he becomes a shaman. Adding to that, the return of a faction of Iron Dwarves into alliance with the Bronzebeards via Moira allows him to finally return to Ironforge without facing suspicions about him personally.
I even used a wolf almost full time for my entire hunter career. The backstory has the wolf dying just before he goes to become a paladin. It ties in perfectly to enhancement shamans using feral spirit!
Between the coolness factor, gameplay, & backstory, a dwarf shaman feels like the character I've been waiting to play, and I can't wait to get started!
