As a long time player from release, watching WoW develop into the game it is today, Cataclysm, to me, feels like Blizzard is finally taking the game into the right direction. I'm excited to see vanilla WoW revisited, and in my opinion, finally done right! Blizzard has learned much since the launch of WoW, and while vanilla WoW was great for it's time, there were a lot of things that could have been better, and I really believe Cataclysm is going to bring us back to the basics of what makes this game actually fun to play.
I'm excited to finally get to visit some of the landmarks that have peaked my curiosity, so many years ago. Killing Red Dragonkin outside of Grim Batol, trying to imagine what was going on inside, and hoping that it would be added patch after patch. Seeing the large hole in the outer doors of Uldum, always made me think about what was breaking in, or possibly breaking out! Finally being able to experience these vanilla places will be great and exciting.
Goblins - need I say more? I've always loved the money grubbing, fast talking, deal making Goblins. I've always wanted to see them as a player race, and it's finally coming to fruition. I'm stoked about their racials, and can't wait to roll a new character to level up as a goblin in the new content.
Worgens - Ok,I'm not sure about everyone else, but Gilneas finally being open. Yes! For years I've wanted to get through those gates and explore beyond, but they were locked up tight! I'll admit, I'm not super stoked about playing a Worgen, mostly because I'm a true blue (green?) Horde player, but they look pretty bad ***. I'm more excited to see Gilneas and explore that area of the world!
I must admit, that flying in Azeroth is up there on my list of exciting additions. To fly over the Ruins of Lorderon or Orgrimmar, and witness the full glory of those landmarks from the sky will be an exhilarating experience. I hoped for flying in Azeroth back when Burning Crusade was released and again with WotLK. Exploring the new Azeroth from the sky will definitely be a great reason to play Cataclysm in itself.
And lastly, the thing that I am most excited about has to be the changes to the talents. Talents sure have come a long way since vanilla, I mean, druid talents in vanilla, anyone remember? Yeah, I know, right? Finally! I just love the idea of being locked into the specific talent tree until you've spent 31 points. Not only is this going to be a good feature for oldtimers, but for new players as well, many of which I've seen with points just thrown anywhere, in any tree all willy nilly. Smaller, cleaner talent trees with only useful talents, it's going to be great. I can't wait to test it out for myself.
So, I guess that's it, it all boils down to the fact that I'm excited to just play a new game, and Cataclysm really seems like that what it is, a new lease on WoW. I can't wait!
