Make sure your security is up to date, and run frequently. I wonder how many of the 44 million accounts have owners who routinely say "Nah, my computer is totally secure, man."

Get a good anti-virus/-spyware program and get AdBlock/NoScript for your browser (Firefox and Chrome supports one or more of those).

Though if you do get AdBlock, I recommend supporting the upkeep of this site by either whitelisting Allakhazam or buying premium. For those who don't know, the ban on AdBlock has been lifted, but the admin(s) have asked us to kindly consider the financial damage this plugin does to the site.

If you investigate a little further you'll find that this problem is barely the surface of the surface of a larger problem.

Computer crime has become organized crime and it is nearly as proffitable as illegal drugs. The people who "innocently" buy hacked ingame assets are financing the growth of new criminal organizations and their activities arent limited to hacking game accounts.

Those organizations have the required resources to have their trojans rewritten twice a day if they have to avoid being detected by updated AV definitions.
