So after going through this thread I decided to clean up my UI a bit. Since I dropped a lot of addons I use, I need to find a tooltip and bag addon. I don't want the addons to change anything, I just want to be able to move my bags, tooltips, and achievement tracker.

As far as bags go, I wouldn't be opposed to an all-in-one type bag, as long as I could still organize everything so stuff isn't just piled into a single bag. I don't use any bag addons now and each toon I have uses each bag for specific items, making it easy to organize and keep track of specific things.

The tooltip addon only needs to be able to move the tooltip and achievement tracker. I don't want all the extra crap associated with a lot of the tooltip addons I have been finding.

Also, I used to use CT Mod for the buff tracker. Anyone know of a buff mod similar to CT Mod's? Or a good buff mod in general? The buff mod isn't that important, I just want to play around with a few of them.

I use tiptop (I think) for my tooltips, easy and simple.
I use Bagnon for my bags, it's a single bag addon, but it gives items a border by rarity, allows you to check bags and banks on alts and it has a search function for when you can't find something. Smiley: tongue

Hey Aethien, there's no way for Bagnon to search other characters of yours bags is there? Because that would be really freaking handy. "Hmm, no dream shards on me, can I just type into this little box and get told what character of mine might have them??" From what I've been able to see, you can only use the search to search in that characters bags. That's my only complaint, really.

Oh, also, how do you alter the size of the screenshots you take in game?

Don't know about Bagnon, but I do know that Altoholic has that function, even though it's not an inventory mod in itself.

I used to use CTMod for that for the longest time, and firstly I believe they've updated it fairly recently, but it's not on any of the usual addon websites. Secondly, I use Satrina Buff Frames for buffs, if that's too much of a pain to setup, Elkano's BuffBars do the job, too.

Also, I've downloaded RBS (Raid Buff Status) yesterday, and while I really like it functionality-wise, I dislike that you can't change the look of it from what I can see. Is there any way to do that that I've missed, or any viable alternative?

Altoholic has to be one of the most underrated addons out there. I can't live without it, and recommend it to all my friends.

So it happened.

I switched out the memory hog of ArkiveUI for a modified RawrUI instead. I actually like it now that I've had my dirty fingers all over it and changed it to what I wanted.

Other than the basic addons included in the RawrUI, I put in IceHUD and Mik's Scrolling Battle Text, because I can't live without my flashing numbers and health bars. I also got rid of AuctionMaster and went with Auctionator, because I prefer the 'Buy' option of Auctionator. And PallyPower went out in the trash bin as well, since I don't play my Paladin at all.

And I added:

  • FluidFrames
  • AnsweringMachine Plus
  • AutoText
  • HearKitty and BadKitty
  • BonusScanner
  • RatingBuster
  • EquipCompare
  • TipTac
  • DrDamage
  • Examiner
  • GatherMate
  • BigBrother
  • Postal
  • Outfitter
  • Talented
  • RankWatch

Mainly because I'm lazy and still prone to using pointless addons, but those were the ones I couldn't live without.

Only thing I sort of miss is AutoBar. Having to use my backpack and actionbar slots for stuff AutoBar would normally group together kinda sucks.

Still, it's doable without.

Glad I could point you to a new UI :)

Make sure to check out the original UI for all the various /commands and some LUA tips for certain items.

I would love to use a custom UI, but thanks for my current RL situation, I'm constantly switching between two computers. I've tried before, but it always ended up with me having to manually rebind and reset the settings every time I changed computers. It just wasn't worth it.

Besides, the basic UI never really bothered me.

why not just copy/paste the interface and WTF folders between the two?

Or play directly off a flash drive, given that it's big enough. How big has the WoW folder gotten nowadays?

I actually did a complete WoW copy from one computer to my little crappy laptop, and it starts right up as if nothing happened, addons kept preferences and everything. I don't know many other programs you can do that with.

I'm personally trying to find a solution to that. One that would work (in theory) is to store your saved variables in a central location then use junctions or symbolic links. I personally have not tried junctions or symbolic links over a network. However, you could use a free file synchronization service like Dropbox, copy over a set of saved variables to the specified sync folder then junction them into your Warcraft folder. One other solution I'm trying out is Copy Changed Files, which is advertised to copy only altered files and may suit your needs perfectly.

As for my own UI, I'm working on a redesign myself going from a 5:4 (1280x1024) to 16:10 (1920x1200) layout.

Hell, copying the WTF and Inteface forlders worked for me while switching between my PC and Mac.

Mine says barely 20 gigs.

Copying the WTF folder and the Interface folder will copy over your addons and their settings (SavedVariables in the WTF folder) as well as your video/sound settings (Config.wtf in the WTF folder). And your bindings.

Going to need a pretty big flash drive. I believe my WoW folder is around 22gb in size.

Part of the problem is that the two computers have completely different resolutions (one has a decent 1680 by 1060 monitor, the other is a crappy old 800 by 600).

So even if I did synchronize the files between the two computers, I would still have to adjust things.

Surprisingly enough, most addons just realigned themselves in the right places for me when I went from my low-res 15" setup to Moz' secondary computer with a higher resolution and 24" monitor.
The only problem I had was that scaling down the UI through the Blizz standard thing didn't work, so the stuff I don't use addons for was HUEG LIEK XBOX.

To bring my UI over to his place, I just sent him the Interface and WTF folders over Skype.

Rexr? what?

I notice the font on the rep bar isn't matching. Is that what you're referring to?

Apart from that the placing of Grid and your minimap seems kind of random to me, or rather like you tried to avoid symmetry on purpose.
You should also disable at least the border around grid as you don't seem to have borders around the rest of the stuff. There's also multiple bar styles I can see.

And that font makes everything seem really busy. Too busy for my tastes but I suppose it's a matter of choice. Same goes for having so many action buttons displayed.

Also, is your screen really tiny or something?

Some addons use relative positioning in their configuration while some use absolute. Those which use absolute would be the ones you would need to opt-out of a synchronization (one that comes to mind right away is Autobar); those which use relative (Bartender 4 comes to mind) would be OK to sync.

Took a video of my UI with everything (and I do mean everything!) turned on. I don't usually have quite that much crap going on but wanted to show the addons in toto. The tool tip and poweraura above the hud are usually not visible during combat. The green bar at the top is only on when I'm rep grinding (it's my xp/rep bar). And I'm still messing around with hiding the toolbars but with a lot of toons it's kinda nice to have them visible. Once I go back to only playing a couple of toons, they'll probably go away (mostly).

I wanted to show video in order to see how my powerauras is set up for abilities. I use these for primary cooldowns, debuffs and/or dots depending on which toon I'm on. So, for the warrior they show when Bloodthirst, Whirlwind are off cooldown and when Slam is procced. On my lock they show Corruption, Curse of Agony, Haunt, etc. On the druid they show Mangle cooldown, Rip timer, etc. Guess I could do a massive copy/paste of the settings if anyone is interested but they're pretty simple to set up.

The current UI is not the cleanest I've every used (my t5-6 UI was practically empty aside from IceHUD and DotTimer) but seems to function and is flexible enough to adapt to all of my 80s without too much per-toon tweaking.

I dunno... kinda missing my old clean one. Maybe I need to delete the WTF and start over....

Anyway, cheers!

edit: Forgot to list the main addons:

IceHUD (health bars in the arcs around the center of the screen)
Dominos (tool bar mod par excellance)
Pitbull (pretty small party and raid frames with great incoming heal module)
Omen (threat meter, don't leave home without it)
Deadly Boss Mod (timers and alerts for raid encounters)
TipTac (customize your tooltip box, yo!)
TitanPanel (I love you)
Chinchilla (map mod, iirc it's smaller than the others)
Chatter (chat box customization ftw)
and the love of my gaming life: PowerAuras (which can track just about anything in game)

Okay, so after reading through this and the other thread about add-ons, I've added a few more:

Ackis Recipe List
AddOn Control Panel
CooldownButtons
FishingBuddy
GatherMate
RatingBuster
Satrina Buff Frame
SexyMap

I actually doubled my number of add-ons, except that with SexyMap's coordinate feature, I disabled SimpleCoords.

Here are a couple of screen shots:

Solo:
Solo UI

When grouped (Note: I'm not in a group at this point in time, but this is where the Private Tanks area from VuhDo will go -- I want it out of the way when soloing):

Grouped

Edited to add screen shot links.
