Faction Change - Who's going to?Follow

As some of you may have noticed, Faction Change has gone live.

I'm considering a faction and server change to a friend who's been bugging me to reroll for-freaking-ever's server, but I'm undecided. The major factor holding me back is that my current guild is doing amazingly well, and I'm hesitant to spontaneously leave (I would obviously tell them I'm leaving and why, not just /gquit like a jerk).

What about you? Will you be using the service?

The part that makes me sad is the 30$ price tag and we don't get anything like a name change or server transfer. For now I think I'll stick with being a night elf... at least until they allow me to switch to Worgen.

I'd rather just level any horde toons I want up to 80, that way I'll have have a bit more connection rather than a change of racials and a new look.

Actually Fewyn it does allow for a name change and re-customization with faction change. However the $30 is holding me back to. Have some high level alliance I would love to move to my horde server so I don't have to level the classes again but don't feel it is worth it for faction change and realm xfer. Guess I'll just have to get BoA shoulders/armor and level them ; ;

no chance. I have enough alts, that if I wanted a specific faction/clss I'd just level one of my alts or make another one. It's not like levelling is that hard...

Thinking hard about moving my DK over as my goal for him is 100,000 PvP kills and Alliance side Perenolde is just not the place to get that done. I have a 52 mage though that loves the farming ability of my DK and swims in his gold.

I do feel a bit wierd about titles that I haven't really "earned". Yeah, I am an "cool title" Joecool and I worked hard to get those titles, but does that allow me to feel good about the Horde equal?

Still pondering.

I use to play Alliance, and then changed to Horde.
And then rolled the same classes, and lvled them.

So really I have no need to change my lv60 Dwarf, 20 Nelf druid and 70 Dk human; as I have a 80 Troll Hunter, 26 Tauren Druid, and 73 Orc DK.

Now when Race change comes, much later on for the new xpack... I might change the Tauren to a Troll...but then again, if the starting area is changed it will probably be fun to see all that on a new character.

It depends on whether or not they will give us extra server slots when Cataclysm comes out.

If they decide to be retarded and stick to their guns of only letting us have 10 slots per server, I will need to make room on my alliance server... so I'll transfer off one of my less-important characters, transfer em over to my horde server... and then faction change em.

Me. I"m sick of the alliance on my server, but i've put too much time into my warrior to delete him.

I'm half considering using faction/server change to get some BoA gear over to my Horde alts on another server. But that'd be crazy, right?

Also, I'm not sure that's even possible.

I was certain I was going to do it a while ago, but now I'm not planning on it.

I really wanted to move my hunter over to alliance side where all the characters I actually play are, because I enjoy hunters, but don't play horde anymore.

But then I realized, I already have two 80 alliance characters and one never gets played because it feels like a waste of time to not be putting time and resources into my main. Just feels like I'm redoing work I already did, so I think the hunter in the end wouldn't get played either.

I think you'd either have to have a lot of extra money lying around or be pretty desperate to accept this. Lets put this into perspective. You can buy Original WoW, Burning Crusade, AND get a free month (/w original) for 30 bucks total. This is ridiculously over priced.

My <3 lies with my hordies, but I was recently convinced to roll an Ally with some work mates on a different server. I am real close to 75 and now they are talking about switching to horde with this new change :( plus I already have a 76 Horde Druid on another server. I don't see much point in doubling up, one would end up gathering dust.

I wonder if you can server change, cross faction now? ie move my hordie(s) over to the server with Allies already on it, as opposed to faction swapping my Alliance Druid. I might have to respec to Moonkin tonight, just so I have a go for a bit before the inevitable change occurs.

$30! Ram it.

I'd rather roll a new toon on whatever server I needed to be on.

Doesn't seem to have gone live for EU yet, although with a €30 faction change + €20 server change I doubt I'll transfer my alliance shaman to horde.
Even though having the shaman and gold and heirlooms over is very attractive. Smiley: tongue

I have a Murloc Suit from Blizzcon 2007 (BoA). It's currently posessed by my 80 Gnome lock who I quit playing a while back (was my main for aout 1.5 years). My 80 BE lock would very much like to posess the suit. I sense that I will soon be rolling a human warrior who dreams of being an Orgrimmar AH mule.

I'm horde, and for $30 I dont feel like switching sides just to have all the people who want to be cool, come with me and make a Worgen. I may as well just wait it out until the change.
#22 Sep 03 2009 at 2:41 AM Rating: Decent
I've got a lvl 61 lock from Vanilla WoW that I haven't touched in a very long time that I've been waiting on this for... However the $50 for me to change factions and then server change her will have to wait for a while. So yeah, I'll use it at some point, just not sure when. It does seem kind of silly to spend $50 on a WoW character.

Not a chance. Of course as a certified altoholic, I pretty much have all the classes I like covered on both Horde and Alliance side, so I don't really *need* this feature. And I can't imagine the thought of losing so much history on any character. But that's just me.

I've been trying to get my buddy to play a tank. He keeps using the excuse that our first toons (alliance during vanilla, we are now horde) was a warrior and a blacksmith - and he'll be hot damned if he's releveling that class or that profession. Now I just have to convinece him $30 is <cough> resonable. Maybe if I buy him some BoE's it will take the edge off. And promise to dual-spec my new shaman as resto...

So ya, $30 sucks, but from a purely selfish standpoint I'm loving faction change. Plus, I bet horde sheds a lot of dead weight when worgen come out!
#25 Sep 03 2009 at 3:31 AM Rating: Good
For me it's something I'm mulling over. On one hand, I wanted to be horde when I first started- but all my r/l frinds were Alliance. This would give me a main which could, in turn, fund my horde alt so that I could level him in relative comfort to 80.

On the other hand, apart from Ellieann (my rogue), all of my characters rely on each other for their professions. Steelbelly has enchanting and recently switched to inscription. Marlene is the herbalist and alchemist- so Steel relies on her for his herbs, Nexnecis relies on her for jewel transmutes, and she makes everyone's potions and elixirs. Malesar is a skinner and leatherworker- so he makes gear for himself and for Steelbelly- and leg kits for everyone that can use them. Nexnecis is my miner and jewelcrafter, so he gets to make jewels for everyone... well, once he gets all of the recipes.

Ellieann is a miner and engineer, so she'd be able to make the switch without adversely affecting anyone else. However, I've grown fond of my Gnome rogue, and she also promised Steelbelly she'd make him a motorcycle, so he'd be hurt if she left before she kept her word. Besides, I don't know if I want to spend $30 just to switch her to a "maybe I'll play her as horde" character- and then find out I don't like it on that side as much. Smiley: rolleyes

It does, which is why I try to never add up the amount I've spent on name changes. $10 never seems like that big a deal. Unless you turn out to be obsessive and fickle.

I don't have any Alliance characters left. I stripped them of all their cash and deleted them ages ago. But even with this I don't regret it. The only one I miss is my druid and I'm looking forward to leveling a troll druid to check out the New Azeroth Now With More Jormungars! when Cataclysm comes out.
