This.

Why not add a little spice to halloween? Instead of the same ol' masks they add in more for a change. I need more evidence than a stupid halloween toy.

Female worgen mask, no female worgen model in-game. If they were just going for recognizable monsters, yadda yadda, they probably would have stuck with ones that people have actually seen.

And if they really just wanted to @#%^ with us there'd be a pandaren mask. Smiley: tongue

So there's no other evidence? Thanks.

*cough* If Blizzard actually does that, I'll be sadface for the sheer butchery of lore that dwarfs even Draenai.

Why? It's already in the game, remember Arugal and Pyrewood? That's already lore since vanilla. There's werewolves in Grizzly hills too, though they're bad people (in both forms!)

I've been pondering over this, both races seem highly plausible to me.

Worgen are most likely going to be from Gilneas refugees that are fleeing from the Naga that have taken over their home. This would make sense as according to the list that has been floating around for as long as I can remember states one of the first zones of the "Maelstrom Set" is Gilneas.

Goblins also seem highly plausible as since this expansion is going to be focused in and surrounding major goblin cities, most likely a faction of Goblins fed up with the Steamwheedle Cartel and their dealings with the Alliance will break off and join the Horde.

If we are going by past expansions each one has a major theme of the newely introduced race or class. The Burning Crusade relied heavily on Blood Elves and Draenei throughout Outland and Wrath of the Lich King is all about Death Knights (the Death Knight to be more precise =p). So with the Naga taking over Gilneas and the major role of Goblins in the seas I can totally picture these two as the new races.

I really hope this is true, I wouldn't mind having my own little goblin farmer. It would really be awesome to say "Time is money friend!" whenever I get a random tell for a group.

I think I'm with Mental and IDrownFish (I love that name btw). Two masks added means little. The female mask does bring a question to mind. That's some pretty nice art work for just a mask. But it IS possible that the Worgen are going to be added as a major plot to the next expansion. It doesn't solidify them as a playable race. Although a Gilneas turned Worgen sounds very plausible. It would explain the long silence. It'd be like the alliance's version of undead. Except not dead. And kind of furry.

Either way, I agree, Blizzard knows exactly what they are doing. All of these discussions are creating buzz and free advertising. All they had to do was drop the files in an upload. Its rather ingenious actually.

It *would* be a typical Blizzard move to implement Worgen just as it was to implement DK's and Draenei; none of those choices made any sense whatsoever when I first heard them, but were explained and finetuned so well lorewise that once more information was known it really seemed like a natural choice. This is why part of me is saying 'Worgen, no way, doesn't make sense' while in the back of my head I'm thinking 'It might actually be a possibility precisely because it doesn't make sense yet'.

It really isn't just the masks making people think it, but how the masks work with a statement from Kalgan about how the new races would be pre-seeded. This is just the first evidence there has been of something like that happening.

I think the biggest evidence they're not just random masks is well, actually look at the Worgen masks. They look very little like present Worgens, and in fact, are fairly obvious attempts attempts at "humanizing" them more. It would be totally random if Halloween came around and they're like "Worgen masks" and we put them on, they'd be nothing like you'd expect when you hear that. So at the very least we're going to be seeing a new variety of Worgens, and if we are, that supports their attempts to "pre-seed" races.

Now that I think about it, the male Worgen mask looks vaguely lion-ish to me.

This is what I think too...Way earlier then 68, though. Not ALL Goblins and Worgens are going to want to be neutral, after all :P

While I can see these as the two new races... I agree with the other poster on this thread that it's entirely possible it's just new Haloween masks. People seem to have forgotten that the Halloween event happens in between content patches, so it would stand to reason Blizzard would put this year's Halloween event content into the next content patch so as to avoid having to do a content patch prior to the event (something they tend to shy away from for obvious reasons).

If these are indeed the two new races, I imagine we'll find out soon enough... as BlizzCon is quickly approaching....

Honestly? That would be awesome, and especially for goblins it would make sense.

While the goblins do favor the horde, there is no way they would want to throw their hat into the horde side entirely, and lose their valuable money-maker that is the Alliance.

Also, goblin cities being neutral would make little sense.

This certainly throws a spanner in the '03 expansion list. I think though that the forsaken are going to be even more pissed that they'll help out werewolf cursed people but not undeath cursed people.

Maybe the Worgen are part of the Protoculture.

(Macross rules, just sayin')

p.s. That's Loituma doing Ievan Polkka. Don't ask me why I know this.

EDIT: I suppose I should speak on topic. Goblins and Worgen would be just fine. If you think about it they both fit pretty well, though I think goblins with their history in the RTS make more sense than the Wogen upon first glance. I still dream of a neutral or third faction, but c'est la vie.

Maybe they can just skin Pandaren as normal bears for China and give the rest of the world their brewmasters, damn it.

Also, as Teacake exclaimed, I want BARDS. You know it would be sweet...

I like this. Worgens will be awesome Rogues, and Goblins pretty much work for the Horde now anyways. Pandarens would have been cool, but China is a big market to **** off.

How? Putting in the 1-10 zones in before the planes expansion doesn't negate the entire post. They might want to change the names of Panderia/Hiji and the Xorothian Plains, though. What you are trying to say is that for the list to be valid, there should have been no changes whatsoever in the (probably 10+) years of development effort by Blizzard.

Quote:

??.

point 1: traditionally undead are evil byproducts of necromancy and/or voodoo, while werewolves are the ultimate "kewl" (except for vampires, who are the ultimate ultimate cool critters).

point 2: It's only conjecture that goblins will be horde and worgen will be alliance. Why not the other way around? - or do you have a different definition of "they"? (they'll help out).
