I forgot Silithus. That one might give Azshara a run for its money.

I have quested in every other zone mentioned in here. Only been in Silithus 3-4 times.

Azshara followed closely by Silithus, and then Winterspring. Felwood can be pretty quiet as well. But I've actually ran into people to do quests with there.

Silithus was actually fairly used a lot for a while. Azshara has always been barren.

As few quests as there are in Azshara, there are a few I still have never done. There is a Goblin near the Satyr areas with some quests that I found one day while on a mining run and I keep meaning to go back and do his quests. Other than that though, there are a couple of Horde quests and a couple from the Tauren near the Alliance flight path and that's about it for quests that start in the zone. Still, I love the zone when I'm herbing or mining for nodes of that level and it's the place I was at just this weekend when I needed some high level fish (lobster) to skill up cooking from 280-300 on some alts.

I love questing in Desolace too. It was always one of my prefered zones. I was there questing a week or so ago on my 36 Shaman and actually rezzed two different people who had died in the area where I was questing. My 80 Warrior hit 40 while killing Centaurs in Desolace.

I like questing in the Badlands but I really hate getting there on Horde so by the time I usually arrive there, I have outleveled most of the quests. Lately I have just been skipping the zone as leveling is so much faster than it used to be even when you aren't using RAF to boost things.

I'd like to go back and get Loremaster on one of my characters but it's hard to decide which one to do it on. Do I use my main who is three (I think) quests shy of getting the Northrend Loremaster achievement or do I use my old main who is way ahead in terms of old world and Outland quest counts. It's hard to choose.

It helps that its like the only place to farm for the Cenarion Circle rep too. So you always have at least a few people running around doing that.

Azshara horde side isn't AS bad as the alliance side. We have a decent number of quests. Honestly the zone drives me nuts because you can see the obviously uncompleted battleground and remnants of quests that were never finished/removed/will be added. I love the zone. So vast for absolutely nothing noteworthy in it. Its like the barrens without the quests and crossroads. :(

I've seen the Badlands mentioned a couple of times, and I can say that on Horde side it is decently populated. Lots of good quests there for Horde, and one of the first questable trinkets in the game (I think). It's a sucky trinket, tho.

I think Ashzara takes the cake also, but I'm pretty sure it used to be more populated than it is now. I remember farming there quite a bit for various things pre-BC, like stonescale eel and other herbs and having competition. Plus they added the Polymorph: Pig quest there and the Blue Whelpling. Now, I'm not saying that it was a well used zone by any means, but I think it got a little use.

The zone I've practically never used and probably never will again is Desolace. Way too hard to get there for the Horde. Not only do you have to do the basic amount of traveling to get there, to get the FP as a 'lil Hordie you gotta run through the ENTIRE zone from the Stonetalon Mts. And going through Feralas at that level can be dangerous. Plus, if you go under 30 (used to be under 40, which was the real killer for me) you gotta walk it. And then, when you do get all the quests and stuff, what do you have to do? Go ALL the way back to the other side of the zone and complete them, then walk ALL the way back to hand in, just to do it all over again.

And don't get me started on Rexxar. Hate that guy.

I guess it is time for someone to bring up Feralas, since quests are far apart and few at that, at least for alliance and Dire Maul is almost deserted

To bad really because i always liked the feel of DM and Feralas. Also i always thought it would be cool to see Dire Maul rebuilt and inhabited

* Sunken Temple -- The most avoided old instance in the game is Sunken Temple. There's plenty of quests to go there, and all, which is about the only reason people ever do. It certainly isn't for the atmosphere, or because it's easy to navigate, or because it's a particularly fun zone, or because there's completely phat lewt to be had there, or because it's easy to reach, or because it finishes quickly, or...

Hmm, I've always found it easy to get a group there. When I was leveling with friends as an instance group we chain ran it with two (different each time) randoms. Gnomeregan is easily more avoided in any case. I really like the atmosphere, too - it does just what it says on the tin. I'd put it just after BRD on the epic scale for old world 5 mans. It's less out of the way than Mara, too.

Most underused zone? Hyjal, easily. Non-smartass answer: Azshara, Alterac and Blasted Lands have always been rather barren.

For me, Wintergrasp.

Getting there is the main issue I think. First you have to trek all the way through Felwood, which is pretty underused as it is. Then you have the whole hostile furbolg tunnel deal, not hard to get through, but still.

The main reason I pick this zone is that I'm pretty sure I didn't know it existed until long after I reached 70.

I never saw a quest or npc even refer to the zone the whole way through the game, and did a lot of exploring.

Azshara. There really isn't any place else that I have done less in.

I'd vote for Azshara. I went there mainly for fishing and herbing, not even realizing there is a Horde FP until very late.

I loved Feralas and Felwood, which I didn't find too deserted (quested with others in both). Dire Maul is another story, along with some other instances which is a separate topic I suppose.

After Azshara, I'd list Blasted Lands then Desolace then Silithus. Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing other questers in Swamp of Sorrows unless they were headed to Sunken Temple or the Dark Portal.

Hey, Swamp of Sorrows is awesome!

. . .if you're an herbalist. Every character I have with herbalism goes there to complete the quests, but to mostly powerlevel herbalism. It's very easy to hit 300 herbalism there on blindweed.
