I'm entering the final phase of my Insane plans. If you have reviewed the previous thread, you'd know that I've hit Exalted with Darkmoon Faire and Honored with Bloodsail, meaning that 1/4 of the requirements for Insane in the Membrane are completed. After forcing myself to sit and grind pirates for almost 4 hours yesterday outside of Ratchet, all of my Steamwheedle reputations are above Revered. My rogue is level 62 and officially living up to her name (Junkboxing). From here I enter the final stages. Here are my thoughts if anyone else is still going for this achievement.

1. Steamwheedle. I decided that, assuming Shen'dralar reputation is no issue and competition isn't fierce, the fastest way short of quests is grinding pirates outside of Ratchet. Doing this you make about 5k Ratchet reputation per hour, or 2.5k with all the others. It is mind-numbingly boring. But it exceeds the best gains you could hope to get in Dire Maul (even including ogre suits), and is loads better than Tanaris (where the enemies typically take two hits or a crit instead of one-shot... plus they are more spread out).

From here on in I've set my hearth to Feathermoon Stronghold and plan on grinding keys. I need 59 more to hit Exalted. It should be lowered to about 51-54 with the ogre suits, though.

2. Shen'dralar. I am exactly three librams away from hitting Exalted (19,500/21,000). And I have the three in my inventory. When I log on tonight I'll have this done. I also have the mats for one of each extra. Since I can turn in the Arcanums for Zandalar rep, I figure it might get some use.

3. Ravenholdt. I'm about 30% (6.5k/21k) done right now. My rogue can get 68 junkboxes, drop them off, and get back into LBRS in 50-55 minutes. So I still have a ways to go. Also, it sucks that Vanish totally fails if the enemies are on top of you. Getting eaten by 7 level 58 elites is a pain. I like LBRS better than Tyr's Hand because of the greater mob density and the guarantee of no competition. While I didn't ever see anyone else pickpocketing in Tyr's Hand, a few mobs seemed to have empty pockets and one time I saw a level 80 Orc rogue unstealth next to a lockbox and massacre a group of Crimson Crusaders.

Well, that's all for now. I hope to be Insane by the end of next month; I won't update until then. I did a lot of grinding last night, and while I still want to sprint, I think I might slow down a little bit; playing for 4 hours straight of doing the exact same thing is kind of tiring :-P

Anyone else getting close?

Oh, and I'll be getting The Exalted when I turn in the Arcanums for Zandalar rep at the end of this grind :D

Grats on the INSANE progress *cough* :D

As for me, I'm neutral with the goblins now, close to friendly. I almost did all of it in DM because it's mad money and I need the books. I got a Foror's compendium the other day :)

locke, a few questions;

exactly which librams work for shen'dralar rep? been so damn long i cant remember anymore. note that id like to do this on my DK if at all possible (so class books are right out)

how did you do darkmoon faire? i assume the lower level card decks helped?

general tips on ravenholdt? id like to try it, but the idea of lvling my rogue to 60+ from level 4 well....it hurts me physically. like i seriously feel my insides start to churn in on themselves.

Libram of Focus, which requires Skin of Shadow from Scholomance.
Libram of Protection, which requires Frayed Abomination Stitching from Stratholme.
Libram of Rapidity, which requires Blood of heroes randomly found in EPL and WPL. Look on wowhead for coords on the Blood of Heroes page, and use cartographer. I went from finding 3 an hour to 16.

All librams also require the book itself, a pristine black diamond, and large brilliant shards (2 for protection, 4 for the otheres).

Other items you can turn in (once) include:
Furor's (DK, War, Pal only)
BS guide (BS only... I think. There are three different ones to turn in, though? Maybe?)
Class trinket book (only your own class)

They do help, but mostly I looked for epic decks below 350 gold. I still probably paid over 20k for all the decks over the past 6 months or so. Chaos, Portals, Beasts, and Prisms were the cheapest on average. Chaos and Prisms also disenchant into an Abyss Crystal, giving you back ~70g. Note that even if you cannot d/e, the rewards are BoE now, so a guildie can.

The rogue decks were ok, but maybe only accounted for a couple thousand reputation at most. The problem is the lack of supplies on the AH. But they are usually cheaper as long as the supplies are cheap.

Your only other option is advertising in trade for a rogue to help you. If you could get several to farm a few hundred by offering 5-10g per junkbox, it might happen. But that's a TON of cash. Up to revered is simple, by the way; put in 4-6 hours running around Durnholde Keep in Hillsbrad killing the low level Syndicate guys for 5 rep a pop. They respawn in 2-3 minutes (or faster), so you can loop infinitely.

If you plan on leveling a rogue, the BoA shoulders, swords, and dagger (Emblem dagger x2 > PvP dagger) ROCK. If you need to choose between swords and daggers (due to limited EoH/SKS), go daggers first because Mutilate at 50 with two BoA daggers is pure win. If you can swing the extra emblems, a swift hand of justice is also a nice tool to have. Enchant your daggers with Agility. Put minor run speed on any boots you get until you go Mutilate at 50. Follow a guide. I used Azuarc's for my rogue and it was pretty good, although I deviated in the late 50s because Outland was too good to pass up. You can start picking at 60, but I waited until 62 because the increased stealth and extra points were useful. Also, remember to pickpocket all humanoids as you level after level 53 or so. I probably found 80 junkboxes that way.

Overall, a rogue with BoA gear is a breeze to level.

Truth be told, while this title is cooler... I think Battlemaster is more impressive. It seems to be bugged right now, but anyone with that probably deserves more respect than Insane. I estimated that getting Exalted with WSG would take around 300 hours. And that's only ONE achievement needed for the meta for WSG needed for the meta for Battlemaster.

Yeah, but you can work on all the other WSG metas while working on that, and you can have built up a lot of rep from back in Vanilla.

This is true, but really, people could have been working on Shen'dralar, Darkmoon, and Ravenholdt rep since vanilla as well. Actually, Shen'dralar was simpler back in the day since you could turn in class books multiple times. Even after completing this achievement, I doubt I put in 300 hours grinding Steamwheedle, Ravenholdt, bloodsail, and leveling a rogue. Maybe if you including farming items for gold for Darkmoon or buying librams for Shen'dralar... but again, that's for a single battleground.

Well, I guess I have my next goal set up!

How's the path to "Poldaran the Exalted" going? And why are we the only two up on a WoW forum at 2:30am EST on a Saturday morning?

I don't usually do any work on it on the weekdays, only on my weekends(Sunday and Monday nights). So still 14k from it. I'm hoping to get it either this or next weekend.

It's always slow on the weekends, but being a holiday weekend, it'll be exceptionally slow tonight as everyone goes and gets drunk.

While true, there was never a reason to. Back in Vanilla, there was a damned good reason to grind rep with the BG factions as I recall(the Azuresong Mageblade equivalent dagger from AB rep is a good example). Plus, if you were gonna grind up honor, you were bound to spend a lot of time in WSG with a roll team getting tons of rep in the process anyway.

So true... I'm waiting for one of my housemates to come back from picking up another one of our housemates from a party so we can finish Underworld 3. I might just go to sleep, though.
