Curse and WoWInterface fights backFollow

Is there some setting on the "new and improved" Curse client to show which add-on authors are requesting a donation, or do they all request one by default now... and I need to go to curse.com to see a donation button? (The same place that WoW Matrix would take me by clicking on a link.)

How about I pay the Premium charge to open up Curse downloads by WoW Matrix? I might've paid for that - before yesterday.

I'm not understanding how WoWMatrix prevents me from giving these sites ad revenue. I do that anyway, by using Firefox with AdBlocker. If anything, it saves bandwidth, because I'm not loading several pages and images just to get the latest bug fix.

It's funny that WoWI and Curse expect some huge revenue boost from doing this. I know this whole situation has finally motivated me to ditch the buggy Xperl. Every addon from these bozos that's not absolutely essential will be tossed, and those that are will be replaced if possible. GG, Curse. GG, WoWI.

Details? OS? What steps are you taking to install them? This isn't curse's fault, you're doing something wrong.

I ended up figuring out the problem. When I got my new pc I immediately downloaded wowmatrix to install addons, well this was the first experience I had with vista and its fun public folder (all previous pc's were xp). I have wow installed into my public folder and I was pulling the file directory like this C:/OS/Windows/program files/worldofwarcraft/interface/addons, this doesn't obviously include going in from my public folder. Once I was able to figure out the right file path I got everything fixed up without a problem.

What I find funny is people are blaming curse and wowi instead of matrix. Curse still works. WoWi still works. It's matrix users that are having the problem. The blame has been shifted. It's a shame too.

That's what bad PR does to a company (or two). They are dealing with a very selfish, fickle user base and they made them mad. It doesn't matter that WM was costing them money, how dare they inconvenience the all important addon user!.

Bad PR is very easy to generate with the WoW community, they feed on it (which is why I don't go to the oforums often).

I've written addons. I wrote Gatherershare among other things (the reason there is a sharing feature in Gatherer now). But I found out pretty quickly that the WoW users are jerks and I stopped supporting them.

Combine the web sites that want their money, with a self-entitled user community, with an addon developer community that has an abnormally high number of primadonnas, and it I'd say an implosion was overdue.

If you've ever worked in customer service you know right quick that every customer thinks they're the exception to the rule. When in fact you'll eventually adopt the "The Customer is Never Right" policy right quick.

You can basically apply that to wow users as well.

I'm not really saying I'm surprised, I just find it funny and a shame that the true blame has been shifted so easily.

And then there are bad ways to solve a problem, ones that makes you look like a complete and utter moron by disregarding what your user base clearly desires. Guess which one this is? Go on, guess.

Except the people using WowMatrix were not Curse's or WoWUI's user base. The people using this tool had no need to go to either site. Sure there are going to be be people who visited those sites AND used the tool, but honestly most people just want their add-ons and could care less about anything else those sites offer, and given that they were only pissing off WoWMatrix's users, not their own.

Who's shifting the blame? WoWI and Curse are the people taking action here. I think their actions are stupid and counterproductive. It's not like WoWMatrix put a gun to these sites' heads and forced them to produce horrible clients. WoWMatrix simply did what they wouldn't. Now that they've shut down WoWMatrix, there are exactly ZERO good add-on clients available. Thanks a ******* lot.

God forbid they spend a little energy producing a client that doesn't suck up resources and annoy you constantly. Just shut down the one that does it, and you don't have to!

Everyone is blaming and curse and wowi for matrix's structural mistake. Why can't matrix survive without relying on curse and wowi? Have you tried talking to curse and wowi with suggestions and your problems? Or did you just scramble off running to matrix and now you're crying because they relied on others for their add-on updates.
