Hmm, but wouldn't they have to change the default filter? Did you include a note suggesting they do that?

I am gonna have to go try and find that guild forum now, this might be fun to watch.

Can someone repost the OP text? This is a great "how to make your guild fail" thread.

That's sooo cute, you don't see this level of naivete very often.

Chances are the vast majority of you who hate this system are the sort of people who wouldn't benefit from it (i.e. not a class lead or officer). Well of course "you" would think it's awful.

You're supporting what everyone here has been saying in this "out of control" thread - that nobody but the beautiful people in your guild are going to benefit from your loot system.

I didnt add a note about the default filter no. And to be honest I don't know how many are going to see it. I needed an account to post in the forum, so I had to add a comment in their application form.

Okay. I'd say it's equally amazing that not one person in this thread agreed with your new loot system, yet you post saying that we're all wrong, maintain the notion that your system is fair and balanced, that there's nothing wrong with your leadership if they're willing to basically gut an entire guild so they get much higher odds of scoring loot than the peasant raiders.

The main discussion around any loot system revolves around what is the most fair, and the general consensus amongst anyone who has operated under more than one loot system in their experience with WoW is that none of them are ever totally QQ-proof, because it's a highly subjective thing. The best loot systems are the ones that reward raid performance. Players want to know that if they show up to a raid and help the group to succeed, they'll have a reasonable opportunity to be rewarded. Things like DKP are popular because they reward people based on objective criteria. That's not to say that everyone will be happy with the system because there will always be that one guy who will find an excuse to complain because he really really really wanted that upgrade but he didn't get it.

Maybe, instead of just rebuking the Alla community folks who posted here, you could explain exactly what it is your GM does the should give him such an enormous advantage over everyone else when it comes to distributing loot. I'm guessing that the vast majority of it either a) doesn't apply directly to in-raid performance/contribution or b) does apply, but is something that anyone could do if they showed initiative and took responsibility for their performance, regardless of their rank.

The coward's way out. I wish that I were able to read your original post, instead of bits and pieces that could be out of context, but no-o-o-o. When you get a few opinions that differ from your interpretation of what happened, you decide to opt out and remove your views entirely. It seems like an extension of the following:

Translation: they didn't agree with you? Sounds like you're doing the same to us; you ask for an opinion, and when it doesn't match yours you trivialize the speaker. You wanted psychology? There it is.

You know, I was going to just kill this off but since I have surgery in the am and I need things to keep my spirits up, I am actually going to leave this for the hilarity factor.

Pro tip. This is the internet, people will not agree with you most of the time. You will be flamed, targeted and hassled to get under your skin. If it works or if you get rated down all the time, either suck less or change your posting style to be less (insert topic here).

Tavarde, I didn't rate you down until you had your childish tantrum and deleted the original post. Since I can't rate that OP down multiple times, I had to satisfy my irritable ratefinger by finding and downrating every post that you made in this thread. If I could, I'd just nuke the everliving hell out of the one you deleted in your infantile hissyfit. I hope that clears things up a little. From this thread, you don't seem to be able to take advice, but I'll offer you one more- grow a sack. Smiley: disappointed

Score: Decent

So last night the GM and officers of my guild had a meeting to work out a new loot system once and for all for the guild. Since the beginning of Lich King we had been using a Karma system that was in many aspects very similar to DKP. Raiders would accumulate karma for showing up on time, for every hour raided and for staying until the end. This karma could then be spent on gear that dropped they really wanted, resulting in their total karma value being cut in half with each use.

There were some problems with this system however that had begun to bother us officers (as well as the GM). Mainly, some of our raiders were inclined to horde their karma, passing up on reasonable upgrades in hopes of getting that one incredible drop later down the line. This of course does not help the raid as a whole. All upgrades she be rolled on by everyone who can use them.

Another problem of our Karma system was that it was repeatedly rewarding the members of our 25 man team who either A: Didn't work as hard; B: Didn't go to every raid; C: Simply weren't our best raiders. We want to unconditionally gear up the best members of our raid team first, but this wasn't happening, and it was beginning to upset all of us within the officer circle. The last few weeks gear has been going to people who are either only part-time raiders, are plagued with constant disconnect issues that severely limit their effectiveness or are prone to making dumb mistakes that are otherwise avoided by our best raiders.

So we instituted a new system of "weighted rolls" in emulation of one the better alliance side guilds on our realm. Every rank now has a set amount of "weight" added to every one of their rolls and this weight goes up by a factor of 10 with each rank. For our guild's ranking system it is Raider = 10, Senior Raider = 20, Class Lead = 30, Officer/Senior Officer = 40, and GM = 50. The two lower ranks, Initiate and Member, have no weight added (but we have very few people ranked there right now anyway).

And so began the QQing. Not from a lot of people, but from a few. Some of them we knew would complain, but others we were surprised to find having a problem with it. One in particular that shocked me was a rogue who, after being handed the best DPS leather chest item in the game Saturday night (the lv 226 item off heroic Malygos), logged off in anger before because she suddenly was supposedly being given less of a chance at gear than before. And she's already a Senior Raider with a weight of 20 to all her rolls. The other QQer is our hunter Class Lead, who immediately objected to the change and those of us in the officer circle simply figure he just doesn't want our hunter officer having a greater chance at gear.

They argue that a weighted rolls system is unfair. Well they just don't seem to realize how unfair karma has been to the officers and the GM. Our GM has lost rolls on numerous items and he is by far the absolute hardest worker out of every single member in the guild. As far as I'm concerned, he should have first dibs on anything that drops for his class without question. But he doesn't, because he like us officers want to be fair and democratic to our raiders. We want everyone to feel important, but at the same time we feel a system of rewarding the hardest workers and best raiders first is absolutely tantamount to our success.

I've come to realize that anyone in my guild that QQ's over this new system is more concerned with getting gear and being the best <class here> than they are with helping the guild progress and being one of the top contenders on our realm.

What do you all think?
