Hello Everyone,

A guildy and I where talking the other day, trying to find way to bring the guild closer together. Yes all guilds run instance/raid, and quests together. But I was wondering if any one knows of anything add on, or game type event non game event related.

We thought of maybe like a guild trivia, via facts on certain character types, or places around wow. But we are not sure how to accomplish it.

Any advise or criticism would be greatly appreciated

Thanks all,

Jhua

Take your guild to Shat. Have 2 druids go flight form and fly up real high in a nice flat ground area. When they are at the same deadly height have them shift into caster form. The loser is the one who dies or shifts back into flight form farthest from the ground.

Gamble on this.

That worked for our guild.

Now we all have something in common.

Too bad it's herpes....

Ah guild cohesion and team building. ::nods::

If you have a forum starting threads like...

* A gaming rig picture thread! Take a picture of your machine / desk area where you play for your guildies to see.

* A Pet thread, pictures of your fuzzies, scalies, Fishies, featheries.

* Post Surveys, silly things like whats your favorite color / food / place, whats your biggest fear, etc..

I would avoid a picture of yourself thread, or anything involving your real (full) name. As people are not as open to sharing that information especially in a new guild. (Side note: Younger guild members, especially need to know it's not okay to share personal information with strangers online). You'll be surprised how much insight silly threads like this can give you on your guild mates. Who's messy? Who is the neat freak? The animal lover? The mad scientist with four monitors hooked up to their desktop?

In game there is plenty to do if your creative or take advantage of whats already there.

* There is the Stranglethorn's Fishing Extravaganza every Sunday! Make it a guild event.

* Guild Tag; get a heavy leather ball toss it to your mates and whoever has it is "it".

* Take a Guild trip to places like Newman's Landing or the Iornforge Airport.

* Do a level one race across Azeroth with a 50 gold entry fee, winner gets the pot.

Of Add-on's

Like Scotty said there is Trivia bot, it was updated just 3 weeks ago so it should be working. Or you could just get your whole guild addicted to Bejeweled.

Cool, Thanks everyone, I've downloaded triviabot im trying that out now. lol, and some of these questions are that easy.

The in game ideas are great too, but I thought the made it so you cant get to IF airport anymore.

I will try out some of the thread ideas too, once more ppl start using the guild site

Cheers,
Jhua

I had a social event for my guild. We went and played laser tag. It was actually surprisingly fun, but we all knew eachother from outside the game already. Thinking about expanding guild with people from my area as my guild is small and it makes running instances difficult. Guild social events are a great idea. When I played FFXI I met up with a couple of the players outside the game and had a blast. If you are in a guild with people for long enough you become friends by virtue of the amount of things you have done together and find that the game isn't the only thing you have in common.

A few events my guild does:

1. Trivia night. We use Vent for this, and there is a prize of, I believe, 100g. I don't know for sure because last time I was all Cliff Clavin about it, and blew my lead and lost on the final question. I'm still mad. Smiley: bah

2. "Help a guildie" night. These are not official runs or raids, just a night where we get groups together for people trying to knock out group quests, get a particular instance, etc.

3. Sometimes they take out their pink-haired gnomes and wreak a little Alliance havoc. I haven't made it to one of these yet.

4. Once we did capture-the-gnome in the arena in STV. The GM's took out their above-mentioned pink-haired gnomes, we divided into teams, and your basic capture-the-flag ensued. That was a riot.

Generally they try to schedule something about once a month, I think. Our GM's and officers are really, really awesome about keeping a family atmosphere in the guild and along with these events, we have regular meetings in vent, as well as good forum participation.

We have a loot card raffle going on right now (the Slashdance one). Guess who will be the first to ding to 80 and pick the date/time it happens (kinda like you do when you pick when babies are born.) All guesses go as ingame mail to the GM with a specific cut off date of when they need to be received. It is generated a lot of buzz I think not so much for he prize but the excitement of just winning something lol.

We had a week of events during Halloween week for our guild. Our biggest one (that isn't original but was fun), was making Level 1 gnome warriors and racing from there to Booty Bay. The winner got 500g, 2nd place got 300g and 3rd got 200g. It was even more interesting because this was when everyone was zombie-ing around the city. (We allowed everyone to go to IF and use the tran to SW, but that's it).

Seemed like a big hit with our guild.
