The coming of the Lolfacenoobawad...Follow

Before I write anymore let me explain that term. My brother and I developed that term when we played runescape. It's an insult. One of epic proportions. We used it to reference people who had reached a high level in the game but were still utter and total noobs. They surrounded themselves in miserable ignorance, they loved to beg, they would insult you in a heart beat. These my friends were the dreaded Lolfacenoobawads...

Anyways as most of none of you know I play on Shu'halo as a lvl 74 NE hunter. Shu'halo has been rather good with it's high lvls as if you asked one just about 80% of them could answer most questions you needed. Granted there was an idiot here or there but nothing major.

With the introduction of WOTLK it seems stupidity has grown... scratch that. Stupidity has sky rocketed. Which I don't mind. Anyways this is what gets me.

I'm questing in Dragonblight last night. A 72 hunter post on the general chat "Can you tame a mob thats higher lvl than you?" people just start flaming him with things like your an idiot, you've failed as a hunter, reroll your class NOW. and other things like that. I try and be nice and message him, "You can only tame a beast your level or lower it goes with the lore of the class being able to control the beast they tame." The guy gets mad at me with all these angry replies then puts me on ignore once I try to reply to him. So move on and say whatever.

Another situation... I need a particular mob from dragonblight in which a NE druid is also sitting there waiting for it. I invited him to a group so we can both get it and it won't be a tag race, he joins and we kill the mob. So I say thx and leave the group and go on about my business. 3 mins later he messages me, "Can you help me with a couple of quests?" I'm 4 bars from a level but I say hey i should b a little kind, so i say "Depends on which ones?" he links like 12 different quests, most of which I've already did. I reply, "I'm almost lvl 74, so I don't want to stop questing but if you want I can tell you where are the quests are?"

He starts asking me about the different quests to which i giveh him info and instructions. Soon he asks me to stop what I am doing and help him, I say give me an half hour, he finally says "Stop being a prick, you said you were going to help are you going to do it or not?" I say no and ignore him.

My friends, the lolfacenoobawads have invaded wow...

For a long time there were alot of murloc jokes circulating our trade channel. I'm suprise that those didn't get resserected with the new D.E.H.T.A. help the murlocs quests.

Its not invading, its always been here far as I can tell. :P Everyone encounters people like this at one time or another, even in WoW.

I had one last night. I was doing some quests in Grizzly Hills. Now for the most part, if I reach an area and another person needs the same pops or a named mob, I'll offer to party, or they will and we team up and both get credit.

Well, I was killing these trapper guys, I think you need 12 and one named mob in the building. I had already killed the named, and was at 10/12 on the trappers. This paladin comes up and asks if I want to team up. For whatever reason I didn't feel like it so I told him I just needed two more so I'll pass. There were plenty of mobs. So I go off to pounce another and I see a hammer fly down and claim it. Apparently the paladin has decided that he's going to punish me for not teaming with him by ninjaing my mobs.

That's ok. My /throw has longer reach, and what's more for whatever reason, whether its my connection or whatever, if I know exactly where a mob is going to pop I can almost always cheap shot it faster than any other class can claim. So I camped the named for a while. :D The paladin laid down his consecrate. Point of reference for paladins. Don't bother with consecrate to claim. It ticks slowly. If a rogue can flee through maiden's consecrate and get a garrote off, your consecrate isn't going to claim before the rogue.

I think he learned a thing or two about being a jerk that day. At least I hope. He probably didn't.

its not that stupidity has skyrocketed. Its just that stupidity is all online at the same time in the same place.

This happens during unique events. The arrival of the Isles and MagT. The arrival of northrend are all matters of interest which are focal points upon which large masses descend. Many of whome are morons.

Because stupid people who play the game are otherwise widespread and not on ALL together ALL in one spot.

it will eventually fade as time sets about its usual ebb and flow once more

What I find excpetionaly painful is when people who are in the upper level of a zone's bracket and are begging for help for quests that are 5-10 levels lower than they are...

I fail to understand why so many pallys think consecrate will get a tag for them. My technique is to spam my judgement button. Since it is ranged and auto targets, I get a really high chance of tagging rezzing bosses by just tapping "3" over and over.

IIRC, it's only the first "wave" of Consecration that "hits" the mob that doesn't tag the mob for you. Unless they've changed the mechanism recently, I'm pretty sure that subsequent waves will in fact tag it for you. If your competitor is smart enough though, like you obviously are, he will tag it himself in the time it takes for the second wave to hit, which is why Consecration is generally ineffective for this purpose.

I'm wondering though, is it safe to assume you're on a non-PVP server? Because I'd be mildly worried about Judging the first member of the opposite faction that walks up to the boss spawn point while you're sitting there spamming it.

Only a few things bother me besides doing ninja on quests.

1. new people begging for gold then cussing you out when you say no or advise them to work for it like you did.

2. going on a raid with someone who is too bossy then asks you to leave when their friend finally shows up after you helped get the group to the last boss then they also claim they need every drop....

3 a lower level toon begging you to run them through say deadmines then ditching you in the middle of it because their sister needs to get on. if you can't spare an hour or two for a run don't beg for one.

Except for that I have had a decent experience in my 1 year of playing WOW with all the different people I've "met"

Lolfacenoobawad = my EX

Now personally I think that expansions tend to bring people back to the basics, learning your class in a leveling aspect all over again. And you cant forget, some of these people you see have quit the game 6+ months ago, only to come back and completely forget what they are doing.

It only makes sense to me that a hunter would forget what level they can tame pets with, seems like a pretty common mistake for someone who hasnt played in 6+months OR hasnt leveled a toon in god knows over a year?

My EX bought the origonal game, leveled to 60, quit, bought the expansion, leveled to 70 in 2 weeks, quit, then came back for WOLK, will level to 80, then quit. You know people do that kind of stuff all of the time.

It makes no sense to the people who raid and whatnot, but your likely experiencing my EX who is a complete n00b, and thankfully will quit at 80 and not attempt to raid and wipe us 30,000 times.

This has got to be the best thread ever! Thank-you everyone for posting and sparing your time to talk to me.

I've been questing on Grizzly Hills, luckily it has significantly less people in it than the Borean Tundra and Dragonblight.

Holy shock FTW...although I believe my judgements now have a farther range with talents since the expansion. If you're looking to tag a group of mobs consecration is far more likely to grab them. Single target though...far too slow. Judge/shock/Avenger's Shield them depending on spec.

That comment is full of win. I'm tagging that for my new signature...

In all honesty, there is just plain common sense and basics. It doesn't change in end game. It doesn't change in expansions. Its the same from start to finish. They had no common sense and there is no excuse for it. The only "excuse" is that new content brings concentrated groups of players. More people = more idiots (the big city concept).

Now all of our trade trolls are out pretending they actually know how to play. The biggest upside I've seen to Wrath so far is a near total absence of idiots in trade on my server.

Please don't use "their" ever again. Ever. I don't know what it did to deserve this, but keep it to e-mails you send to yourself to laugh at it. srsly went out of style-- wait was it ever in style? Using it after trying to denote age as well when generally younger players are the ones who use it? At least OP didn't go out of his way to mutilate the English language.

To answer OP, it's because of the concentration. Burning Crusade was pretty brutal at the start but things got better as everyone leveled and were spread out between instances, raids and zones. Right now we're seeing a big concentration of morons gather in the earlier areas of Northrend. Idiots are everywhere, but you're noticing it because of the sheer mass coming out of the woodworks.

Something that stood out to me was the amount people who couldn't do the DK quests without someone holding their hand, and wiping their *** for them. "How do I turn in the horse?" "Where's the eye of Archaes?" "OMG WHERES KINGS HARBOR!!!!!!!!!!!" "Why is Arthas in the hold and out here??!?!?" "Why cant i pwn any allis yet?"

Really I'm suprised they got a character to 55 to even be able to make a DK. Granted, I've ran through the DK starting quests 3 or 4 times, but still READ THE @#%^ING QUEST LOG, IT'S ALL RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!

About 20 come to mind, none of which are appropriate here.

However..... I think the term "Gully Dwarf" (from dragonlance canon) is suitably appropriate.

And here's why: Gully dwarves are the lowest form of life in the dragonlance universe. It is a very rare Gully Dwarf (only 3 are known) that can count past 2. They live in squallor and filth, inhabiting places that all other forms of life (intelligent or otherwise) have abandoned, and they can stomach food that could kill any other form of life. They are viewed by all other sentient races as the scum of the earth, and are hated, reviled, and treated as such. They, in turn, are so used to it that such treatment does not faze them in the slightest. They are also clannish, and the leader is usually the dumbest of the lot (which is saying something).

Another name i have for them is "supreme ignoramus". For those who dont know, Ignoramus is synonymous with ignorant. This term is also applied to people who pretend to know stuff they dont actually know, a dunce, and anything that is less than informative. In essence, something worse than NOOB (which i didnt think possible till i read the definition of the word. Go figure). Since the people who insult you either dont know the answer or are just too stupid to answer you, the term applies just as well as "Gully Dwarf".
