Misress D got over a hundred responses to her thread about name pronunciation, I wondered where some of those names originated, what was the source of inspiration.
Zarkando was the name of my fave char in D&D back in the 70's. (Yeah, I'm old) I used it as my first mage in EQ, but my shammy there, Chato, sort of went from alt to main. Over time I finally got fed up by some things in EQ, swore off mmorpgs, played rpgs on my computer, like Morrowind and Oblivion, but Bliz (was familiar with them playing D and then D2), in the best schoolyard drug dealer methodology, gave a free month last Dec. (Come on kid, try it.... the first hit is free.... then you pay.... moohaha). My quibbles with EQ didn't exist in WoW, so yeah, I was hooked.
Anyway, I'd long gotten over trying to come up with fantasy sounding names for my toons, so I have a couple right now that are designed to give a passing player who reads the name a bit of a chuckle....
For instance... Kardoor.... (Pronounced Car Door)
Maybe my next one will be WindShield......
