Source of inspiration?

Warcraft 3's undead. I decided to name one of my acolytes in the undead campaign "Mozared" for laughters. It just sprang to my mind and it sounded right for an undead.

So I was playing everquest 1.0 and in that game, death comes quickly and frequently. And I wanted to play a mage, for some reason. So I picked a fictional character very good at dodging things. Oh, and blowing things up. From catch-22, the novel, one of my favorite books.

My WoW character is Orion and my wife is Pleiades, a mage, we are both Dranei, so the star-theme seemed logical. Orion is the great hunter, and followed by his loyal dog, Sirius. So my hunter has a wolf pet. Yes, a wolf. My most successful everquest 1.0 character was Tahoe, who was a half elf rogue, named after my dog who was half Rhodesian ridgeback and half greyhound.

I just have two characters so far, Bandalacey and Sashaina. Only started playing in July this year.

Sashaina just came to me one night when I was about to fall asleep, and I liked it. No links to anything I can think of. I was just playing with sounds and syllables.

Bandalacey is due to me not thinking ahead, but I like it. The story is my husband has been playing for a couple of years, and I finally decided I had time to try it out. (Heh) For some reason I never gave a thought to naming my character, and I pretty much had a brain lock at the time, couldn't think of anything “cool.” I remember thinking maybe what she looked like would give me an inspiration. Well, she's a human rogue. The default costume has laces on the vest and sides of the pants. But Lacey and every imaginable variation has to be taken already. Hm. She also has armbands. About that time, my husband says, come on, what's her name? And I blurted out “Bandalacey,”

As I said, I like the name. Not only did it grow on me, but there's still only one Bandalacey on The Armory. And only two Sashainas. That makes me feel smug.

Saerynne is my own twist on Seren which is a Welsh name meaning 'star'.
Amarynthe and Elaandi are just made up names, no particular inspiration.
Anjali is the name of an actress on the BBC series 'Robin Hood'.

Katluvr is, well, self-explanatory. =^.^=

Hmm.... let's see.

Wchigo - I'm a pretty big anime fan, and one of the series I follow is called Bleach. The primary protagonist is named Ichigo, and due to certain circumstances he finds he has this kind of evil present in his soul (it'd take too long to explain in detail). Suffice it to say, the "evil" looked just like him but was almost pure white with bits of black. He was never named so most people started calling him Wchigo at first, but now most call him Hichigo/Hchigo (the primary antagonists at the beginning were spirits called Hollows, hence the 'H' at the beginning). I tend to use it for everything now, including my XBOX Live and PSN IDs.

Zeroji - I dunno, I kinda made this up. I used to do RP on RP message boards before, and this was just a name I kinda made up. I wanted my character's name to be Zero, but that was already taken, so I scrounged around and decided to stick -ji at the end. It's worked out pretty well so far, I haven't really seen anyone else use it.

Mokoto - My primary character from FFXI's name. It was honestly just a typo, as I wanted to name it after a character from an anime named Motoko (love Hina!), but got the letters mixed up. Dyslexia ftw! But I've gotten to like it, most people just call me Moko.

Mugen - Japanese for Infinite or Infinity. Yeah... that's all I can say about that... =P

my dwarf:

Hox, is backwards of Xoh (my 1st WoW toon, who I deleted). And that is short for Xavier Oscar Hammarabi . . . that is my Mini-hot dog's name.

Meh troll:

Sandinmygum, just came to me. Thought it was neat, so I used it.

And another name I used and still get called, tho I can't useit in WoW (too long):
Tsukaremash*ta : Japanese for "I'm Tired", I started using it when I played FFXI (played a Galka, it fit). I do have a toon called Tsuk in WoW, but it isn't the same T.T

I'm not great at coming up with names.
So my first toon (NE) was Arnlell. Sounded kinda fantasy-ish, I figure. Then there was Arnfell. I ran with the 'Ar' thing and made Ardella (modification of Adela, know someone with that name) and Arnea. When I found out about autocomplete in the mail, I stopped doing that.
On Horde my first toon was Grzyb (knew a guy waay back with that last name). Which led to Trzyb, Drzyb. I'm not very imaginative.
Trixen (who later became my main) came from wanting Vixen. Taken, so I kept playing around until finding a name that was available.
Hannova was stolen from another discussion board. I thought it sounded like a good name.
I made a bunch of bank alts to hold stuff. The first letter of the name would be the profession they held stuff for. So cooking=c=Coraan. There's also Leezim, Nastasia, Taelah. Handypan holds/auctions, well, anything handheld. Bahnkette needs no explanation. I have the twins, Imatard and Rougetard. Carpola.
Sqwoosh was mildly funny. I wanted Squishie, but it was taken. Turned out the name was taken by an officer in my own guild (on an alt).
In the Beta, I transferred Trixen over. The DK I rolled was her twin sister, Troxen.

I really have no imagination when it comes to names. Yet I'm good at making just about anything else up, including a nice backstory. I'm the kind of person who could make up one of the classics of literature off the top of my head, but the charaters would be named Bill, Bob, and Jane.

My current main is called Lepanto, after the huge battle that was fought there in the XVIth century. I had a previous pala tank called Juandeaustria (after Juan de Austria who led that particular battle) but it was a horrible disaster as people would just call me Juan which really is a letdown after putting some effort into it.

Thus, when I made a new toon, I was set that I wouldn't make the same mistake(s) I made with my previous toon(s). All toons afterwards have followed a similar theme. Get a historic battle of relevance, a prominent general or the such too, and make SURE people don't end up calling your Alexandrethegreat Alex.

I started playing WoW because of people in the Out of Topic forum here at Allakhazoo. So I used "Seotamot," which is Tomatoes spelled backwards, as my character name so they'd know who I was.
I'm Ikkian because that's who I am.

Actually, the Ikkian name was created for FFXI, using Nikki from Chrono Cross as a template and flipping the letters around. I then added an "A" because it sounded better.

My next WoW characters will be based off demonology.

Bamir is (boringly) from the eq random name generator.

My 70 (nearly 71) warlock is nesferata. Cause she's undead. And it's a bit like nosferatu.

Look I'm not very good at this. Really.

I usually go for the dual meaning in names. Trylofer can either be try loafer! when I am feeling lazy or trial offer when I feel like a coupon and in need of redemption.

Genom (or Genom Scream in some games allowing spaces) comes from the song "Genom Scream".
Another name i use is Faustus or Dr. Faustus, only for necromancer-ish style classes (naturally it's a warlock for WoW).
And my third name of choice is Mephastophilis, only used for priests, monks, things of that nature. Some history on where the last two names come from.

fisdantilus- derived from fistandantilus, the most powerful sorcerer in the dragonlance universe (apart from raistlin majere)

coolheal- he's a priest
Eheheheheheh- i was bored
glasmadu- my email address, and a word i made up
kaimaliki- a word i made up, and inspiration for my alla profile name
kneedeath- gnome rogue, hence the name (i asked this on Mistress Darqflame's "how do you pronounce your name?" thread, someone said undead rogue/warrior. How did they get undead from Kneedeath?

Minoran was originally a Tauren, and is based on the minotaur.

Buzzkiller was actually the by product of 20 minutes of "that name is already in use". I just took the first one that wasn't taken.

Doreth was just something I thought sounded like a Mage's name would be.

Scootz is retired now, but sounded like a good name for a Gnome rogue.

Bibbo is my Orc name and is based on a character from the Superman comics.

Thornstrike is my warrior name and it just came to me out of nowhere.

I have many others that would bore you guys if I listed them. Also, I might use them again and don't want anyone taking them.
