If my company performed as well as Blizzard has done lately, I would be out of a job.

Prove it true. You have but to quit paying your money, and don't buy the expansion. And then at least 5million other people have the quit playing. With an 11m+ player base, they can afford a lot of losses before they fire anyone.

FFXI is still paying its staff and it lost what 80% of its player base by the time BC hit?

Gee, it's a good thing a company like Microsoft doesn't operate this way, they'd go out of business - releasing a product that causes nothing but problems and then takes a year or more to get most problems fixed... oh wait... :)

Oh well, kinda saw this coming, but it's no big deal, I don't know why people are flipping out so bad. It happens, it's not the end of the world, that comes later tonight, but that's not the point.

Crap happens, we just have to deal with it. I would love nothing more to play considering I'm still on medical leave from work, but I'm not going ***** about it, I mean I'll have fun poking at blizzard, but I won't harp on them for trying to fix things, sometimes things don't work like they should and it's not like this is the only company that tells you one thing, but misses the deadline they tell you.

Lost one night of prep due to yesterday's maintenance - which works out to ~200G or so for each of my 70s. This effectively prevents me from having my mage's epic flyer before WotLK hits tomorrow. ::grumble:: It was just barely going to work out, too.

Can't use it til 77, does it really matter? Do you want to be collecting Outland herbs before leveling through Northrend or something?

Honestly, I just wanted to have it *done*. One less thing to worry about heading into Northrend, y'know? It'd also be nice to be able to start plugging away at the Netherwing dailies, since the area's likely to be relatively deserted. Can't do that without the 5000G training.

Just a little disgruntled at losing a day's worth of progress is all.

LOL now they have Database issues. TBD.

I thought the expansion was pretty much patched in already, prior to Tuesdays Routine Maint.

This is getting just plain silly. What is Blizz expecting me to do during these multiple days of downtime? Work? Pshaw!

It's the man. Keeping me down from logging in to AFK in org for multiple hours while I "work" in the background!

So, with that said. How's everyone doing today?

I find the bad company references kind of silly. This is entertainment. If you go to ballgame and your team gets blown out b/c they didn't show up, will you never buy a ticket again? I do understand that we pay for a service and if we can't play, hopefully they will credit the fact that we couldn't play. As for getting the expansion right, isn't that more just about managing expectations? How many people warned there would probably be significant problems and they said they weren't even going to try until next week? Why not just wait until they get it figured and do something else for entertainment; go get some fresh air, play a different game, go out with real people, get laid (I mean touching chicks is fun too, right?...)

While I am frustrated at not being able to log on as well, I have found that Blizzard at least attempts to be fair to their user base. I'm sure none of them wants to have this down time. I work in IT and I can tell you right now, it sucks to be working in that area for the last two days. They have everyone and their brother screaming at them to get the servers up, not to mention the user base screaming they are gonna stop playing.

I played EQ for years, and trust me, the servers used to go out all the time. What did we get? Not even a "Sorry for you lost time". While it may not seem like much to some, Blizzard has given out rested bonus, and given days of free play. At least they try to make up for the down time. No they cannot give me back time to go farm that sword for my DK, but over all, they have made my game time enjoyable. Guess I will not scream too hard at something they are trying very hard to fix.

Lets hope they don't try to fix it any harder, because they might just fry the entire site.
Mail issues: tried to fix, but broke pvp item cost.
Tried to fix pvp item cost, broke the database.
Tried to fix database, broke TBD.

Arthas was smarter than we realized. He created the expansion and destroyed the world... of warcraft.

We ran into some database issues during the maintenance which will require additional downtime. We have no current ETA to provide at this time, however, we will provide an update within the hour.

LOL. Never saw this coming!!

At this point I'm not too optimistic that they will even be back up in 6 hours when i get home from work.

We ran into some database issues during our pulling our hair out session which will require a ton of downtime. We have no current solution for this issue and another ETA will be given for a new problem we create fixing this one, however, we will provide an update within the hour.

Fixed

I think I will try a 14 day trial with EQ2 while I wait for the dust to settle. I know ban me. I have lurked for a long time and find this a little more upsetting then normal down time. I think it will be a very bad week for down time.

wasnt there a guy who did this in spring and came running back huggng and giving WoW the verbal equivalent of oral favors?
