I'm a pollworker, so needless to say, I voted. The precinct I worked had a tremendous turnout. The line was over an hour long until about an hour before we closed the polls. The most amazing thing that I saw was one little old lady that had wangled a release from the hospital to come in to vote. It was very obvious that she was very ill, but that wasn't going to prevent her from voting.

I voted, for the other guy, no not that one, the other other guy. I wasn't sure of his stance on anything, but I really thought his name was awesome. Get this, his name was Write In, how cool of a name is that. Yeah it's a silly way to vote I know, but I couldn't pass up the chance. I am going to start a campaign and hope Presidential Candidate In decides to run for the next term.

In my opinion, by not voting at all, you make no statement whatsoever. You chose to be ignored by your political leaders. If you like neither of the main candidates, why don't you write someone else or yourself on the slip? And I don't mean something like "Kermit the Frog" that will get thrown out as invalid, but a real person. Because even with that, you will send the message that you don't like either candidate. If a lot of people did this, the result would not be:
Obama 52% - McCain 47% - Others 1%
but maybe
Obama 47% - McCain 42% - Others 11%

Wouldn't that also send a strong message to the people that get voted in the end, even if it does not change the result per se? By not voting at all, you get dominated by people that DO vote!

Switzerland gets it.

FYI: it takes 15% to get invited to the debates. (Which are controlled by the democtrats and repbulcians. Dont' get me started on that) So by not showing up and at least voting for a third party candidate, you are doomed to repeat the cycle of not having anyone to vote for in the next election.

I'll agree with anyone that says the system is broke. He who has the most money wins.

But at least I'll be out voting to try and fix it.

I voted and the person i voted for actually one for a change (i voted for myself the last 2 elections for lack of a better choice). They also legalized medical marijuana in Michigan, kind of suprised but not disapointed that this happened.

I voted because I know my decision effects my life. I respect those who do not vote because they disagree with the canididates...but just not voting to not involve yourself in "politics"?

Those politics effect your life. They effect your rights. They effect your country. Keep on not voting...and keep watching your country fall apart and your rights walked all over.

edit: for spelling

Oof, please edit again. Try "affect," "affect," "affect," and "affect."

If we're ******** about spelling, you ought to put your ,'s after the "s rather then in front of them.

Hey, if you feel that way, stop playing WOW...but giving up your right to vote because some people in a GAME pissed you off...

If we don't vote for such really really petty reasons, then democracy is in real trouble. The US usually has the lowest voter turnout in the democratic world...

Sorry, but even with my hearing WOW-players really dissing my candidate and predicting the end of the world IF... your comment is by far the worst, in my opinion.

I had to register early to vote, because of when my birthday falls, but I voted, and was quite excited about it. No matter what happened, I knew it was going to be somewhat monumental
