Luck o' the DruidFollow

Well, it seems the horde druid alt I've been playing was born under a lucky star.

Two days ago, I got Savory Deviate Delight recipe. It dropped off of a Bael'dun Officer (0.01% drop rate) in southern Barrens. It was the happiest moment I have had in WoW in ages. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and enjoy playing, but I have wanted this recipe forever. I've been too cheap to pay for it and I haven't seen it on the AH for a while. I always kick myself for not buying it on my main when I thought it was overpriced at 30g. So, I was stoked...better than a boss kill, as silly as that sounds.

Then yesterday, I went out to Desolace to pick up the cookbook. While there, I thought I'd try out the lobster traps. I really wasn't planning on staying long, since most of the comments on the Alla page for the Big Iron Fishing Pole mention hours of opening the traps. Well, on the fourth one I opened, out popped the pole. Yay!

Anyone else have some lucky streaks to share?

Yesterday on a lower 50's mage toon I stumbled across two random BoE rare drops, about 35 minutes apart.
Neat-o.

Anxious to get home and check the AH.

Ah, I know the feeling.

There's been a few occasions where I have gotten some epic drops on just some random beast or humanoid while questing. About a week ago, I was in Stranglethorn Vale doing the aged gorilla sinew quest (which btw takes ages) when suddenly after killing one of the elder mistvale gorillas the Combatant's Longsword drops. It was hilarious because not even twenty minutes earlier, the Speedsteel Rapier dropped for me in the same zone, while on the same quest.

I wish I had that kind of luck more often...

Got my Crown of Endless Knowledge off one of those Felfire mobs in Shadowmoon Valley on my 4th kill while questing. Also got an Ace of Storms and Three of Blessings off random kills when doing dailies at Isle.

I've been known to get lucky from time to time, yes.

My priest was extremely lucky on his level 60 dungeon set. If I recall correctly I had 5/8 of the Devout set at 59 and got piece 6/8 in the same run where I dinged 60.

Also, not too long ago I decided I'd finally get that repair bot pattern to get that last 8 levels of engineering. Dropped on the second kill.

Edit: Oh, and something funny has plagued my rogue for a long time. Whenever a lockbox dropped I'd say "I can open that if needed" and win it. Whenever I didn't mention that, I lost the roll. Think I had that phenomenom 'till 60 where I actually started losing a couple of rolls regardless of stating that I could open the boxes.

Guess I can't complain too much -

Got the twig of the world tree for my druid out of a chest in Winterspring back before the expansion and he used it till his first visit to Ramparts.

My warlock scored that caster sword that procs the spell haste (sigh - and then upgraded to a rather solid staff barely two weeks later).

While grinding timbermaw rep I had Destiny drop and my pally alt is 60 and still loving the thing.

Luck o' the druid indeed! MY Druid has the Deathcharger's Reins drop. Rarest drop in the game, baby! He also has gotten a few world epics and blues. Skullflame Shield was the coolest, and sold for an awesome 1200 gold!

THIS Destiny? There's... just so much wrong with that.

1. Destiny is fast. A Paladin should never use a fast two-hander because of the lower SoC procs per swing chance.
2. Destiny adds yet another proc chance to a class reliant on them (crits and SoC procs). You want to minimize the chances.
3. Destiny is fast (take two!). This is bad because SoC goes off weapon damage, and a fast weapon has lower damage than a slow one.
4. There are no extra stats on Destiny besides the proc. Extra stats add another degree of consistency to your attacks. Consistency is good.
5. Consider the fact that within the first 5 quests in Outland you can get a Rage Reaver. Not only does this have a big (~5) DPS upgrade, it has consistent stats, is free, and is slow. Edit: And you can get this quest at 57 or 58.

If you're having fun with the sword, that's fine and dandy. But Destiny is as terrible of an epic as you can find in vanilla WoW. Wait, no. Taran Icebreaker is worse; it's even faster than Destiny.

my alt lock had 2 agility (cloak) enchants drop within 5 minutes of each other the other day.
Never thought I'd see that. I trained the one and sold the other for a nice profit.

I have had probably a dozen Khorium Lockboxes in the past 3 weeks, and I have gotten NOTHING! ZERO! BUBKISS! (Plate armor with 1045 armor and +55 spirit anyone?) Was lucky to make back the tips I gave the rogues who opened them since I just vendored the garbage!

A few weeks ago my wife gets on her 48 Shaman Alt and asks if I can use one of my Truesilver Skeleton Keys to open a Reinforced Steel Lockbox she has. I open it and it has
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=7976;source=live in there AND a Blue BoE level 29 sword! She made 150g off of that one box...

Oh the irony...

:(

Was running heroic mech last week when Design: Delicate Living Ruby dropped. I won the role!

But I let the second place roller take the pattern (my JC already new it). It was a guild run and he is a good friend so I figured he needed (rogue/JC) the recipe more than I needed the gold if I sold the pattern.

Two nights ago, while perusing the AH, I see the same recipe listed for a 5g buyout. My ah toon is a druid. Luck o' the druid indeed.

I played my Druid for 60 levels and two years, without receiving a single BOE epic drop.

Then one day I was grinding my Skinning profession in Winterspring and a Myrmidon's Signet drops. I was so happy to finally get a BOE epic and one that was so valuable. At the time, it was going for 500-600g in the AH. Remember that this was before the launch of The Burning Crusade so 600g was a lot of gold back then. Well, it still is, but it was a lot back then.

The next day, The Burning Crusade was released and the price fell to 400g, 300g, 100g and settling at 50g, with four rings up for auction and no bids.

I sold it to a guildie for 10g.

Talk about born under a ****** star.

I've had to make my own luck in the game. : (

The only luck I've had is getting a PoD for my 39 warrior.(I know, I spoke of it in just my last post)

Scanned the AH for 3 months to find one. Finally did and bought it for 50G. Couldn't believe my luck.

Sold that one for 600G to fund the 29 rogue I was playing a lot more. Could have made a lot more at the time, but I decided to stop holding onto it and let someone who will actually use it hold onto it.

Then about 4 months ago my guild shifted from 29s to 39s. I wasn't gonna move the rogue I had worked so hard on, so I told my guild leader I would work on my warrior a lot...... but only if he got me a PoD.

2 weeks later, he traded a one handed mace from Uldaman that is the second lowest drop rate from there + 50G for a PoD. He had bought the mace for 100G, so I only had to pay 150G for the PoD I am now holding onto(was about 2k by this time).

All in all, I haven't seen one BoE purple and only a handful of BoE blues, all topping out at about 50G each. I'm not lucky, but I have just started leveling a druid..... : )

How about luck of the Mage...LOL. \

When I was trying to find the guys I needed to kill for a quest in Tanaris I got lost and a ROC (bird) aggroed me, I decided to kill it and loot him then mount back up and run again.

Well ***** me sideways! Kang the Decapitator drops from him so I sat there farming for a bit longer.

Sold that thing for 300g before BC came out.

The Deviate Fish recipe dropped for me after killing 2000-3000 mobs in the barrens. I feel so lucky.

I am fairly unlucky when it comes to drops.

Only lucky drop I can think of that I have had is Pre-BC.

I used to farm the Satyr's in Azshara for Felcloth cause it netted me quite a bit of gold.

And 1 day (after about 2 weeks of farming) this baby drops.

Sold it to a mate for 350g (since it was going for about 600g at the time).

Haven't had a good BoE drop since.

To the OP, WOW, that is cool, especially since I had almost the exact experience not long ago, with the same drops!!!

Crazy... but I got one deviate recipe in WC while soloing on my lock one day, and I had wanted it for a long time, but couldn't pass up the gold and sold it for 55g in about 15 minutes...

So I was happy I had got the drop, but still a little disappointed I sold it, when BAM, questing around on a low level alt in the Barrens, and I don't remember the mob, but I got it AGAIN! Twice in the same freaking month... of course, greed once again got me, and I sold it, but...

Same scenario you explain, I was messing around where the traps are, and decided, what the hey, I can collect a few to put in the bank for alts if they need 'em, and the first trap I opened, I got the big iron fishing pole.

Since it doesn't bind, I really considered keeping it and passing it around but, once again, I'm greedy :)

Very odd coincidence we both had the same run, hopefully it will continue in this fashion!!
