Register for the
Selective Service. In the U.S., it is the law and while you won't go to jail if you don't, you will be ineligible for any form of federal (and many state) financial assistance (i.e. scholarships and the like); you will be barred from most forms of federal/state/local jobs; plus many other 'down the road' problems.
Fortunately most states (42? 45?) make registration automatic when teens renew their drivers licences.
