I think most people who've run with me would actually classify me as a pretty good healer, but posting about the times I did everything right is hardly entertaining. Smiley: clown I'm inexperienced. I'm learning. And I tend toward the nervous. But I take advice, and I don't make the same mistake twice.

I think your posts are entertaining and it does make for more fun to post about ******** up (because a lot of people can relate to that as humans are notoriously imperfect). However, judging from the "serious" questions, advice and comments you post in the class forums, it is easy to see you are the type of person who is interested in learning to be the best player that you can be.

Just my lowly two copper...

:)

I think I need to get a premium account, the lack of smiley's is getting me down!

I think you're making a huge, and probably wrong, assumption that teacake is a horrible player simply because she posts about her ***** ups. I'm also making an assumption, based on your post, that I'd much rather group with her than with you.

Thank you, MissK and KassandrahK, for your shows of support! :D Although I must say, if Tyr or anyone else is assuming I am teh suck (which is in itself a subjective thing anyway), I've certainly got a silly streak wide enough to support such a conclusion.

If there's one thing this thread underlines (besides that I am teh suck), it's the importance of finding a guild that's a good match for you, rather than one that is merely good by some objective criteria. For the record, I am a Tyr fan. But clearly if we ever tried to play together, we'd both end up horribly frustrated. There's nothing wrong with his way of playing or with mine; but you do need to play people who view the game the way you do.

I did the usual pally trick when I was healing in Kara.
I had been through kara numerous time and was well into SSC with the guild so Kara was kind of a gearing run for people. As I was raid leading I explained all the fights for the new people and took things slow and steady it was a nice smooth run.

After a bit we hit prince and things were going great as we had a few geared dps and a geared tank with us so he hit 30% and the axes started going at the raid. At this point prince loses interest in the tank and proceeds to chew the raid into small bits and then I realised I had bop ed the tank............

LOL! Oh thats a good one! I just started tanking on my pally level 31 now. I didnt realize that you should NEVER bubble when tanking... I learned a valuable lesson, If you hate the pug your in and people are really making you mad... HIT BOP and listen to the screams of death and horror around you! I am a sick and twisted girl and I like watching other suffer in pain sometimes. I will use this against some random pug someday, if you are in stormrage either be kind and play nice or I will wipe us... Can you bubble then divine protection? Ya know the thing where you kill yourself for the healer?

I have a friend that im rolling with through the levels and he is the healer in the group, I will save him to rez me... yes!

I couldn't agree with you more about finding a guild thats the right match for you. I pulled a boneheaded mistake in Gruul's on very first trip in there with a raiding guild I had recently joined (first raiding guild for me as well). We wiped, gate opened, one of healers uses his soulstone and begins rezzing other healers (myself one of them). Half the raid is up and eating. Had no idea of the big guys' aggro range and promptly ran in a little too close to rezz our main tank. The sound of the gate closing and WTF's on vent will live with me forever.

Thankfully they all understood what I was trying to do and laughed it off as a learning mistake...I was told we all get one per boss, after that its MINUS 50 DKP! :P

I absolutely agree and that was kind of my point (that I guess I didn't convey very well!) To me, it's all about fun. Now, that doesn't mean I don't take my job seriously, and that I can't get through a heroic without wiping the party, or that I can't follow directions, etc. But I'm lucky in that I found a group of like-minded souls (hubby found them, actually) who play for the fun of it. We spend the majority of our time laughing our asses off.

That's not to say we don't get frustrated or that we don't expect people to pretty well have it together; we do. It took us a verrrry long time and more than a few tries to kill Vorpal the first time and we felt like we were banging our heads against a wall. When he finally went down - man, I'm sure they heard us yelling all over the neighborhood!

My point is, if it stops being fun, and becomes more like a job, as I've seen so many other people here say, I will stop doing instances and just go back to solo'ing or duo'ing with hubby. Some of my group have gone on to do Kara with another guild and the thought of that makes my stomach clench - I'm just a cute fluffy Moonkin! Don't expect too much! ;)

So we are in Kara last weekend and the GM and raid leader is on his hunter. We are clearing trash to shade. The door opens I step inside as does he and his pet (a warp stalker name blinky) blinks to shade and the door closes blinky is paste. The RL feigns death and shade turns me into pulp at the door. The RL unfeigns and is immediately crushed. Now shade goes through his entire rotation blizzard, fire wreathe, AOE, then he reaches through the door (which weirdly briefly I can see through) and kills one party member outside. Then he repeats this sequence for each party member. It took at least 10 minutes for him to kill everyone. The RL had his pet on aggressive when we were trash clearing and forgot to change it before he opened the door. We gave him a hard time, but mostly laughed about it.

Of all the ***** ups you can possibly do, my favorite is still moving on flame wreathe.

I've also watched our offtank accidently fall off the bridge before the room that leads to Illhoof. Shame that warriors cant bubble.

The guild I am in rolls for blame when we have a wipe. It confuses guests we might have when we are rolling and nothing has been looted. But it does difuse the tension as we make up reasons as to why the MT wiped us, when we all know that we wiped because I got lost and went the wrong way, pulling unwanted mobs into our midst. I don't know who came up with the idea to do this but it has certainly stopped the finger pointing and blaming that I have seen in other guild raids.

We learned to laugh at our mistakes and learn from them. It makes for a happier guild and a more pleasant raid, especially when we are having a rotten time on a particular boss.

However, I do like the red shirt idea. I think I will ask one of our tailors to make some. It sounds like another element of fun to add to the game.

Divine Intervention on 40-man raid bosses at 1% and watch the raid beat him down before too many get killed = win. Smiley: lol
