Spending levels 1-4 (as a mage) in Tirisfal Glades beating everything to death with my staff, then going for a wander and ending up at the lift to 1000 Needles.

Where I got challenged to a duel and got mullered. Then got explained to what a hearthstone was. Which I somehow deleted.

Then running back dying frequently and discovering that I had a spellbook. Happy days.

A friend told me I could create a horde AND an alliance on the same server. He wanted to play with me on both sides on same realm. I had two level 70 characters on a PVP server at that time. I stubbornly denied it until he showed me on his own account.

EDIT: It was a PVE server of course.

My first post, hi there. As I'm a stinking n00b, my mate brought his character in to sort me out some items & gold, I'd been mucking around for ages in Mulgore trying to kill assorted low-level mobs, he kept asking 'Why don't you charge?' 'I was like eh? Well what else am I doing other than running up to them and hitting them? What constitutes a charge?' A short trip to the Warrior trainer soon set me straight, LOL...

When the game first opened, I rolled a mage. At level 40, I realized the significance of talent points. After every level, I just randomly clicked something in a random tree. Made it a lot easier after I stuck with one tree.

After hitting 70 and buying up all my new spells with my Warlock I decided to respec
from Demonology to Affliction. I was disappointed in my damage until I noticed that
Alli Locks were doing a lot more damage to me with Siphon Life than vice-versa. Turned
out there were now an additional 5 levels of the spell at the trainer as well more
levels of Dark Pact and Shadowburn. Another D'oh! moment brought to you by the makers
of the Smart Stick. Pick it up. Hit yourself with it. Smarts don't it?

When I first started someone told me to make sure I logged out in the inns to get the experience bonus.

I hit 40 or so before I realized that the resting buff is present in the cities and not just the inns. I would spend all sorts of time running to the inns to log out.

Playing a hunter until level 21 and constantly reading that I could train my pet to have skills. Nowhere did it tell me 'how' to train my pet to have skills. Finally opened a GM ticket and complained that my pet wasn't learning the skills I had to teach him, they were clearly in my 'available' training list. This confused the GM for about 5 minutes and he finally came back with "It doesn't look like you've ever trained him to do anything." He happily told me how to do it. Thank God for the GM's!

Mine was my first attempt at a warlock. I couldn't understand how they could be called so all powerful when I couldn't get to lvl 10. Had no clue what a wand was and always got my imp killed trying to have it tank for me. DOH!!! I have since fixed the problem LOL.

For me it was my lvl20 human warrior repeatedly dying in Burning Steppes on the way north from Redridge and wondering how the hell did all those low level Dwarves make it to Elwynn. At lvl28 a kind soul showed me the underground tram. The same kind person also introduced me to the AH in ironforge (pre-AHs at all cities).
