I suppose the only one I can really think of (I have been quite on-the-ball when it comes to class abilities and such) is that I never knew until my warrior was about lvl 40-50 that you could eat some food then shadowmeld so that you wouldn't aggro any mobs near you.

Learning that Distract works on players. I tried it once early on in a BG and didn't notice anything. So I figured it didn't work..... I learned differently here on these forums while looking for info on t5 raiding. Long after grinding all the honor I needed. /facepalm

That's the one that sticks out in my mind, though I've had plenty of "duh" moments. First time I grouped for an instance on my very first toon (a warlock) I kept clicking the summoning stone and not the portal. The tank couldn't figure out what was wrong. "Are you clicking?" he says. "Yeah" I say.... That's several minutes of dumb I'll never get back.

;)

The instant I learned Cheap Shot, I saw that Org was under attack. I go to the front and learn I can do Cheap Shot + Vanish + Cheap Shot. I really annoyed a few 70s before they one-hit me.

It took me weeks to find out about NUM LOCK. I kept wondering how my friend was chatting with me while she was running when I was following her. I also wondered why everyone who played wow didn't have carpal tunnel. Doh! :)

I've been playing since January and I just figured this out about a month ago. :/

I also just figured out that, while checking the AH you can shift- click on an item in your inventory while the browse screen is up and it will put that item in the search box. Saves a lot of time. Yeah, I know about Auctioneer, tried it don't really care for it.

I 'discovered' the growl training thing at 36. I think the cost should be listed as "0 pts" for us slow people!

I had assumed that untraining talent points cost 1g per point untrained!

Pretty sure I read this here.

As a warlock, you can summon yourself, hearth, repair (or whatever), and then accept the summon. Comes in very handy sometimes.

After having a level 70 Rogue for a while, and getting a Mage to 62, I learned that Rogues generate 30% less threat as a passive class feature, and that anyone outside of melee range generates 30% less threat. Judging by the amount of mages and locks that want to cast 2 feet away from the MOB's, I'm not the only one who didn't know this. :)

There's a reason the tank and rogue are up front, and everyone else is in the back!!!

Oh lord, so many things, I'm not sure I can remember them all.

1. Not knowing I could train Growl to any pet until around lv 40 (thinking the no points value on the list meant that particular pet could not learn it). I'm glad to see a few other people posting something very similar.

2. Not knowing that people in the LFG queue who have a group already and are LFM will show up a list of who else is in their group if you mouse over their name. I always thought, for some odd reason, the other people listed were alts they somehow were able to list via a feature I was unaware of.

3. Druid-related: not realizing the importance of maxing out the feral talent for reducing energy cost of Shred, or realizing that mangle would improve the damage of Shred.

4. Not knowing that getting too close to an opposing faction's main city would auto-flag me (learned that the hard way on my hunter in the 30s when I tried to enter Undercity).

5. Still not really understanding the usefulness of enormous, intricate macros.

Well that's about it. Not exactly in line with the premise of the thread but similar nonetheless and a complete expression of my total noobness.

I was about level 40 before i realised that i could PUT stuff on the AH aswell as buy stuff off it. I thought the AH was just full of items that the game randomly generated.

Also, not entirely on topic, but i was about level 60 before i worked out what NPC meant.

DUURRRRRRR!

When leveling up my first toon, my first toon way back in early 2005. I didn't know that when you open up your talents window, you could.....scroll down. I nearly crapped myself when I did this by mistake! Look at all those talents! /drool

Good times! lol

A friend of mine got his hunter to level 40 before he realized there was more than one talent tree to put points in.

I was well into level 70 before i realized that you could use cloak of shadows to AVOID getting hit by spells, rather than to just clear debuffs.

A friend of mine who has a mage wanted to port one of his alts to Shat. Outside of himself, there were (at the time) no other mages in our group that were 64+. He temporarily disabled all his addons, invited two of us to a party, created the portal on his mage, quickly logged out and onto his alt, got the group invite, used the portal, logged back onto his mage and was able to use the same portal he created for two of his own toons. Very creative I must say.

Not too long ago I only found out that you didn't have to type /battleground to talk in BG, but that /bg is sufficient.

Man, you have no idea how often I wanted to warn for inc in AB and typing "/battleground" wrong so it got capped and I was killed while trying to re-type for the 5th or so time.

The guild makes fun of me for that - and rightly so I guess >.<

Um... You know that you only have to type the /bg the first time? After that <enter> remembers the last group channel you used and defaults to that. Part of getting ready for the gates to open in a bg is me typing in /bg <enter> (and then enter again without a message so that I don't end up with a 1243561111 message going out. hehe) so that it is ready for messages that I need to send in the heat of the battle. :)

As for "I didn't know" - There are way too many for me! I only started the game at the end of January, and can pretty much relate to most of the "Duh" posts that I have seen. heh.

I got all the way to lvl 70 before i realised there was a portal trainer in shattrath. Like id walked/flew all those mines getting into outland :|

Not to mention laughing at other mages who sheeped people not realising i could do it too

Edit : just realised a moment when i sheeped a tauren guard in STV. I laugh and run on before noticing ive been flagged. I stopped and tried to read what it said before two lvl 70's came and mowed me down. I had no idea why theyd done it until i entered undercity and the same thing happened.

Yeah, I know that. Been playing since mid-2005 so I know how the chat basics work. But that wasn't the problem, it was typing that first message that I failed at. Some time ago, the bg population was considered to be a raid, not a "battleground". In the beginning, I hadn't even noticed that change... I kept typing /raid something and not see a thing in chat. :( I failed big time there :/

A little while ago, I found out that if you click on a summoning circle (either an actual summon, a soulwell, or a mage buffet table) while eating/drinking, it does *not* break your eating and drinking. Comes in helpful when you just sit down to eat some yummy Blackend Basilisk and the portal opens up right next to you. (If you have to actually move to get to it, of course, it will break the eat/drink).

Mine wasn't so much a 'duh' moment as it is a "oh, that's cool!" moment. You can click on portals (stone, soulwell, table, summoning, teleport, etc) while shapeshifted. I would always drop flight form, click the portal to summon someone, the flip back into flight form. Mana saved, and all that. :P

couple people asked about flipping camera views:

go to the game settings menu (escape key by default) -> key bindings
scroll down to camera options
there it is, unbound by default.
