An investigation of your account....Follow

#1 Jul 03 2008 at 9:13 AM Rating: Default
It started as a normal day waking up, taking a shower, letting the dog out, all was going well until I decided to check my email and this is what I found >_>

An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence that the account has been accessed by someone who is not allowed to use it. The account has been disabled, so that you can regain sole and secure access. If you use a credit card to subscribe, it has been removed so you are not charged while the account is disabled. Please keep this email until you have regained account access.

Only two people know of my username and password, myself, and one of my friends. We have been leveling this new alt putting in atleast 12 hours a day on this guy so he can be 70 and help the guild in progression we usally rotate he does 6 hours and I do 6. I leveled Saintshortty by myself but to level the alt faster I asked my friend for help and what I think happened he probaley bought power leveling services as I have been working more hours lately (Being 16 and working at taco bell doesn't give much money) and not being able to help him. I don't know how to reactive it it has instructions but the links don't work and I had to ask for the attachment to be sent which would take several days and my laptop just decided to crap out on me so I have to type this on my mom's laptop im all confused and need clarification it would be most appreciated.

really simple solution. Never share your account info with anyone. period. My g/f lives with me, if she could get on my account, it would even be from my computer, so Blizz would know nothing. Yet even she cannot access my account, and I cannot access hers.

NEVER SHARE YOU INFO WITH ANYONE.

Also, get one of the new keychain FOB thingies. Then, noone can access your account unless you give them your keys, or they call you and get a code from you, which you wouldn't give them if your smart, which you oh so obviously are.

Why do people thing it's intelligent, in any means, to share their account information? Even with their best friend who's "co-leveling" a toon. Blizzard flags accounts like these because they notice access from numerous IP addresses, which is the first sign of power-leveled accounts.

That's because you don't want your wife spending all your gold on dresses and wearing them around town.

Go get yourself a new account and don't give out your freaking account information to anybody. You idiot don't you know you can't let ANYBODY on to your account or it can get banned? That includes your friends! Your buddy didn't even need to hire a powerleveling service, him logging on got the account flagged and investigated. So go get yourself a new account and play by the rules, or don't get all butt hurt when your account gets banned. But before you do that, go make me a taco!

To clarify you can have one(1) minor on an account.

Or they just got your password trough a trojan of some sorts. I never give out my password to anyone and I got hacked, probably because of the flash player exploit. Thought I was fully secure, but I wasn't. Even with the latest anti-virus stuff out there, it happens. It's rare, but you can't dig yourself in from it completly.

But oh well, as long as Blizzard gives me everything back.

Sounds more like it was one of the phishing scams to me.

I would imagine that purchasing power levelling services involves giving out your account name and password. How else would they log your toons in to level them?

However, as Micros says, this could be a phishing scam. I would recommend searching your laptop for spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. and then trying to log in to Warcraft.

If you really have been suspended, you'll get the message when you try to log in. If it was a phishing attack, you'll probably be able to log in normally. If you get in, change the password and don't tell your friend.

Wow this sucks, no sucks to be you. You should have known better, you are old enough to understand the punishment that fits the crime, and you did it anyway. The fact you are on 6 hours and your buddy 6 hours, is basically a leveling service. And if he actually paid someone, then you need to kick his ***.

QFT.

Sadly relationships go bad, it is a fact of life. You may think someone is the love of your life, but chances are, they are not.

A guy in guild had the misfortune of his ex deleting his toons when things went south.

Don't be that guy.

What you or your friend did wrong was tell someone that you were account sharing, and that person was a ******* and reported you for it.

I'm going to get massively lambasted for this but account sharing is extremely common, in the past I have known at least 2 or 3 guildie's account details (mainly to do "maintenance" like dailies and such while they were on holiday) which I have since lost! Many of the officers in the three serious raid guilds I have been in know each others passwords and have raided on each others characters when circumstance required it. Never let anyone get my pass though, i'm not stupid.

If doesn't really hurt anyone, but you have to be careful who you give it to and don't go advertising it or you'll get reported.

Not likely. Unless you have a static IP address, your IP address will change ever so often. Plus, there are people who like to play on their laptops with wireless from many different locations - school, work, coffee shops, hotels, etc. They way they would catch power-levelled accounts *is* likely through IP verification, but based more on the location of the IP address, not how often it changes.

IP address for a US or EU account is suddenly from SE Asia? Account is being power-levelled or has been stolen. Flag it.

This is true, I travel with work some times, I have been to England and Scotland, all with my laptop. My son accesses his account from my house, his dad's, his best friend's, school and my dad's.

Well then, I'm sorry to say but we've flagged your account and we're going to have to come over to your house just to make sure you haven't been hacked. Please have your laptop on and be in skimpy clothing when we arrive, thanks.

Wow I had no idea this thread was still on the first page and yes I was very stupid for what I did but it has all been taken care of, account restored, friend apologized canceled the service gave me the amount of money he gave them (50.99 for leveling 31-58 they only got to level 34), laptop has been sent to Dell for repair, and password has been changed and friend is no longer allowed on it so it went from a terrible situation to a good one :)

P.S. The taco's have been sent free of charge ^^
