Do not start an hour and a half instance if you can't finish it.

You **** bags start a 2h instance and 15 mins into it the old excuse "Oh dinners ready, I gatta go" what the f*ck? If you can't commit the time then quit wasting others time. All in all, quit being a douchebag.

What instance takes more than 40 minutes to complete that isn't a raid?

Slab is pretty damn quick if you have a Priest in your party, Mind Control breaks that instance.

Still to this day, when I see "ST", I relate it to Sleeper's Tomb....just when I think I finally have Everquest purged from my brain, I see another ST. *cry* (I can't even comprehend what WoW instance is ST; that's how bad it is. SV, SL, SH...but no ST. =x)

<Ten minutes later as I see here pondering> oooohhh, Sunken Temple. Old school. *facepalm*

Anyway, the real reason I'm posting is to say that in all fairness, some people don't know that they're going to have to leave. Some people live with others (usually parents) that make dinner at potentially random times. We usually eat pretty darn early in my house, but some people eat very late, or at a very variable time, depending on their household. While it's likely that person was a douchebag, there is the slight possibility they were not...at least based on what you've told us so far.

I was just thinking about this today - BB is still Butcherblock to me. And I slip and call the little guys in Zangarmarsh Sporali from time to time.

It reminds me of the fun times when i occasionally join a pug kara, there are a lot on my server, and on a specific time I effectively got cheated out of a kara run for the week: I joined. We attempted moroes. We wiped. We split up.

Fun times! :)

A call of duty in RL (dinner, wife, kids, incoming friends etc.)always outweigh a computer game.

Unless you are over-geared and running with guildies/people you know, you should always plan on setting aside at least 1.5 hours for an instance. Most of them take at least that long, unless you know the instance inside-out, are well-geared, and are NOT PuGing.

That being said - RL can get in the way. If it happens, be courteous about it, and find a replacement. Remember - this is ONLY A GAME! Getting cranky will get you nothing.

There are also people who will bail if it looks like the group is going sour.

Wiping several times on trash is usually a good way to make that happen.

Terrible group make-up can ruin the easiest of instances.

If it's just dinner, come on, you mean to tell me that they don't know that their mommy is going to call them down for dinner at some point? Why be trying to start something if you KNOW your mommy calls you down to dinner EVERY DAY. It's not like it's a new thing, it's not like it all the sudden happened today for the first time. Dinner is an everyday activity, and if you gonna run an instance, why not just wait until AFTER, or at the very least, use your brain and go ask your mommy when dinner is gonna be and see if you have enough time BEFORE joining a group.

That's just dinner, some other excuses I can't tolerate either, but I think that has to be the one that gets on my nerves the most. Most of the time I understand though, and usually just let it slide, even if it is the old dinner excuse.

It's happened to me before where I do get tired because the instance is taking extremely long or I'm in some scrub Kara group that's having trouble breaking 700 dps =/. But, I know how annoying it is to just have someone leave and then you wait half an hour trying to find a replacement and resummoning. So what I do is agree to stay until I find a replacement then (I'm a lock) kick someone from the raid fast, invite the person, I summon them, leave, and they reinvite the person who left. I think that's pretty fair.

In theory yes, but does it outweigh commitments you've made to four real people?

Extreme example:

You offer to help a new neighbour move his sofa, you get it off the truck and halfway across the road then drop it and walk off to eat.
