Anyone else seeing much of this on your servers? Seems the cool thing to do is take your dopey Tauren and his retarded elephrinoceras and park it on a quest giver NPC and then gloat about how cool you are that you are keeping others from completing their dailies. The way around it is to Control V and right click the NPC's name when you are close enough to them and you can still get the quest, but I think it is quite lame of the other players. Is the game really that boring you have to do something as mundane as this for hours on end?

The two in particular are the Smith who gives the Naga quest (I think she is also the quartermaster) and I saw one day someone parked an ogre NPC on top of the female bloodelf at the bottom of the tower you port into.

EDIT:

Here are some ways mentioned to get around the problem these griefers are creating:

  • Control + V - Use this to get the names of all players and NPC, move within normal range of NPC and right click the name. Hopefully it will be there when you click instead of an enemies.
  • First person view - Walk inside the asshat's toon model and enter 1st person view.
  • Use Brewfest Beer googles to turn all people into gnomes
  • Remove all gear and try to anhilate your enemy before the gaurds get you.

Haven't had a problem on the island on Drenden but the other day we had what looked like an entire guild park themsleves on their mounts on top of the flight master in Shatt. I have no idea why you would want to do this but I did notice that some of them were afk. There were alot of "reporteds" going through the trade channel but still they stayed for quite a while.

For the first day or two after we got the badge vendor there were tons and tons of people standing on top of her. Even ctrl-v didn't help because the names kept moving around so much with all the people there.

I had some fun with it though. I took off all my breakable armor and started spamming seed of corruption on all the people standing around her. I found a spot where I could get off 4-5 seeds before the guards could get me. Pissed people off no end. They actually started moving away after a few rounds of that.

Happens a lot on my server. I don't know why they went throught the trouble of creating the whole Scryers and Aldors working together atmosphere when the island is contested area and not a sanctuary.

Bloody stupid. Guess where all the S3 guys hang out while they wait for their Arena buddies to come on.

Anyway, someone was standing on one of the starting NPCs at the Sanctum. After much thought I reported it to a Game Master, but the reply was "use Ctrl-V to easily select NPCs," which I already knew.

That's PvP servers for ya. God, I love it.

This is only really an issue for those not in the know.

So a fatty fat fatty cow or Smurf has parked their big ol' mount on your quest giver....What do you do?

    Well?

    I'm waiting.......

All you do is walk inside the Blubber butt mount. You the bring your camera back into 1st person. Lo and Behold! There! Yes! Right there is your quest giver patiently awaiting your turn in.

Being inside the mount model and in 1st person view it should be very easy to not attack the Moron and complete your quest.

One last step, don't forget to flip off the moron, they enjoy that.

From what I hear, this is the reason that so many servers were down yesterday. There was even one server that was so bad, a GM started porting people to STV and Silithus and creating leper gnomes to get players to move from on top of the badge vendor.

I had heared about the porting and the gnomes but I thought those were just jokes.

All four battle-groups that were down yesterday were down because of hardware failures. Rampage (and the other one that went up with it) were emergency cases and got rushed (hah.. 8 hours is a real rush eh?). The other two battlegroups that were up an hour or two later were for last-minute scheduled hardware refits that were announced the night before.

I havn't heared anything connecting the down time to the asshats on Quel'Danas.

I found it funny when an Arms Warrior, Rogue, and Warlock all tried ganging up on me while I was hunting Naga for keys yesterday (we just opened phase III yesterday). After about 10 minutes they got bored of trying to kill a Protection Pally and moved on to find someone else.

Otherwise I havn't seen much PvP on the island on Gul'dan. I *have* seen people blocking ALL of the NPCs in the Armory though, something that wasn't a problem until this phase started.

Haven't seen a lot of issues like this in the Isle, but the parking on top of the flightmaster in Shatt is certainly escalating. Seems like every time I'm there someone with a giant flying mount has decided that sitting atop the flightmaster is a good idea. Tools.

NPC humping... I lol'd but I knew exactly what you were refering to.

On the PTR there were so many people humping the smith that the only way to target her was using ctrl+v. The 1st person trick did not work.

I fell asleep last night when we were at 97% so I don't know how bad it was on Norgannon last night. I'm assuming today we'll see the all the jackasses out and in full force.

Yeah, people would turn pvp on and stand on the smith and the flight guy for the bombing quests, so if you accidentally clicked on them, the guards would come smash your face.

Snivelling little pukes can't compete in pvp themselves so they have to use exploits to grief people.

Well, the GMs made the guards attack PvP on people around the smith on site, even if they weren't hitting someone. That cleaned their clocks real fast. ********

Again, the ctrl+v thing didn't help, there were so many people, the name was jumping around like a flea on crack. If you tried, chances are you'd end up right-clicking a pvp-on person, and you know what happens then.

This is from Blackrock US, usually not this bad. The whole day it was like this while we went from around 93%-100% on the anvil.

Incidentally, this behavior falls squarely in the court of "griefing", and is so reportable it isn't funny. Send the ticket in the moment someone tries it, and give them to the tender mercy of the GMs.

I saw this just last night. We're almost at 100%, so every mouthbreather around quit ganking and started standing on the NPC.

My solution was to zoom in at max, walk forward until I could see the npc's foot, and click it.

Now that seed of corruption idea is nice. I'll get right on it, since I have a newly 70 Warlock.

Another option is to type /target and the start of the NPC's name. You know it's Smith Something or other so just "/target smith" will find her. Then double-clicking the portrait works.

Sadly, someone on my server must have seen this thread yesterday because it finally got into some people's heads to try this last night. Worse yet, they were flagged PVP on a carebear server. Run up to the quest turn-in, and find Question mark, Sword, Question Mark, Sword, why won't the ****** stand still....

Weren't they going to make it so that you couldn't stand on NPC's? I'm sure I read about it awhile back where they were going to put collision markers around the NPC's so this couldn't happen....

Shift-V doesn't help when there are 50-60 people standing on top of the NPC, even if they aren't flagged for PvP.

So I had my first encounter with NPC humping last night. One of my guildies tried to turn in a quest and flagged himself and was pummeled by the guards.

Even though we are on a PvE server, I thought....let's settle this with a PvP solution. So we all geared up and went in to take out the griefer. Unfortunately, since he had on great PvP gear, most of our initial attacks were resisted and the guards and robots destroyed us within moments.

The problem...whenever you are killed by a NPC guard, you suffer armor damage which is expensive. That is where the problem lies. There is no good PvP solution. The only thing I could think of was to kill all the guards, then kill the griefer, but that would turn it into a PvE solution for PvP. And frankly, we suck too much to pull off that stunt.

I feel that a PvP solution to a PvP problem should not involve armor repair. That is why I think this situation obviously falls under "griefing" and the perps should be banned, even on a PvP server.

So, in the end, we got wtfpwned, took our lumps, and moved on to grinding dailies to pay off the repairs. We did have fun trying, so all was not in vain.

Sheep him, and have the mage blink the heck out of there. The questgiver will be clearly visible to those remaining.

If you're feeling fancy, have a Rogue sap him when the sheep breaks to keep him off the questgiver longer.

To solve this problem. Face your character away before you click. That way if you miss you wont hit them by accident.

And wouldn't it be nice if the ignore list made other peoples characters dissapear from your sight as well as text box?

Wow, didn't realize that this was THAT common. I do think it won't be long before the NPCs are on platforms and/or set up with collision blockers. Seems like a lot of time wasted for minimal gain.

Thanks for the 1st person heads up. May be easier than trying to tag the jumping name.
