If we start as the same race in the same area, does that mean questing together will split our XP? I don't know how WOW works this way... how does the game allocate XP when you kill a baddie if you have someone with you? Does the character with the final blow get all the points? Do you set up parties and everyone splits the total XP, or do all members get the same full XP?

You'll have to split exp from the critters, but if you're both about the same level it's a 50/50 split and no real hardship. Not to mention that you do not split quest turn in exp, which is going to be a nice chunk of your exp as you go along, especially at the higher levels or if you're not rested. Not to mention with two of you, you'll kill stuff faster, and be able to do quests more quickly, so it pretty much evens out to begin with, and becomes a real asset as you rise in levels and the critters and quests get harder.

If XP is split up then I am concerned that it will take us twice as long to level and progress...

The experience from killing mobs is split, but that's not a problem since you will be killing them faster and with more survivability with a duoing team. You will get full experience from any quests you complete - which will also be faster with a duo.

I'm thinking go for rogue. Pointy objects and both of you can stealth around and destroy stuff between (balance druid is your caster spec) 2 DPSers. Druids are also all round hybrids between: Moonkin (Talent in Balance) caster, cat = Rogue, bear = warrior. Also Treant/tree of life in the resto tree for healing. Any class can work with Druid, hybrid.

Survivability won't be too much of a problem when you are duoing, and with druid you can cast the odd heal here and there. Evasion tank can work too if need be.

Hunters aren't exactly your choice for meleeing but it can work out with survival spec, they focus almost all on ranged damage.

Enjoy WoW and your stay on the forums! :)

Never argue with an idiot. They will just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
