Why not go from the opposite side? its shorter and safer. Or is there even more land behind our continents?

I'm guessing there's more to the map than what we can see. If you went west from kalimdor or east from the eastern kingdoms you'd probably end up on a completely different land mass.

The fact that this game doesn't have mob or opposition collision is so disappointing. As far as the FFXI AH problem it's simple, make it so you don't collide with the same faction. That way in BG's warriors can actually "tank" and soak damage in tight places. It would make PvP 10x better in this game.

Well it's not remotely a game mechanic, and has more to do with me than the game, but as someone whose only other experience with MMOs was two years of Star Wars Galaxies, every time someone uses the abbreviation "AH" my brain says, "Anchorhead" instead of "Auction House." Drives me nuts. :P

Quote:
The flight point issues all seem to come from the original coding when the game was first released. At that time you could only fly to the closest flight point then take another hop, ect. to get where you wanted. Now you can choose your destination and get there with one click but the underlying old code is still there so the flight has to do a "flyby" of every FP between your start and end points. This means that if you want to fly to Tanaris and you are in Darnassus its actually faster to take the boat back to Menethil, sail to Theramore, and fly from there. Flightmasters are like annoying cab drivers, they drive you through as many "zones" as possible to drive up the fare. This is one issue I hope they can correct in the expansion.

I think that it's probably going to stay this way for a while... otherwise they'd have to program in a flight path from every flight master to every other flight master, instead of just including the few that are already there and have been there since the game started. How many flight masters are there just on one continent for one side? Say 15? That's like 200 possible travel paths. Per side. Per continent. So like 1200 travel paths to program altogether.

I don't plan on seeing that happen anytime soon (I'd love to be wrong, though).

Blink. This game has been out for about three years and there are still problems with being able to blink across different textures, bridges, stairs and other parts of the landscape that you don't have a problem walking over. Although sometimes you can blink through objects that you would normally have to walk around, like a small boulder for instance.

It has gotten better over time, but there are still problems.

The fact that I can't make myself invisible. I hate getting bugged to go to some instance when I *always* say 'no'. I do use /dnd, but it doesn't stop the message and half the time they ignore and ask again.

And those mobs that follow you to the ends of the earth after you realize they aren't moving from the original spot where you hit them. But you never see them, and can't attack them, but they always manage to crit and daze you as you try to run away. Had an ethereal doing that this morning. Grrr.

You can kill those mobs. All you have to do is walk the invisible mob over to where he is standing. Or be a hunter (your pet can attack him).

I tried that this morning, dragging his invisible self back to where he was still standing, but it was those ethereals in Netherstorm near Area 52 and there were 3 more of his buddies around the corner and they jumped me. I managed to kill one, looted it then ran away. And moved to another area to fight.

I'm usually too lazy. All I will do is kill them where they stand and relog. Or, if I'm on my warrior, and that's not an option, I decide which is safer: running for the hills, or dragging Mr Invisible to Mr Visible.

Can someone explain to me why a flight from un'goro to feralas requires you to go through gadgetzan?

Sure, but you won't find the explanation very satisfying. It's the same reason there will probably never be flying mounts in the pre-BC territories.

Rendering.

There's a big chunk of "land" between Ungoro and Feralas that doesn't actually exist on the server. Your character can't "fly over" it because it simply isn't there. To make a new flight path would take a pretty large task force of landscape artists and renderers a costly chunk of time.

Spatial relationships in the game are a carefully crafted illusion. You can't always get there from here.

i hate it when mobs can melee you from more then 10 meters away while your trying to get away, realy irritating if it causes your death... and people making you dismount in mid-air, i hate them...

I agree that the rendering aspects of redesigning FP's wouldmake the programmers life a nightmare. When they changed the waiting time on Zepplin's and Boat's i was most happy, in keeping with the "easier leveling 1-60" theme, they could make flight paths the same (you see the first 5-10 seconds, skip to little red flight path sequence, then the last 5-10 seconds).

Still enough time to get in nature break, nicotine fix, drink or W/E you do, come back and away you go. I wouldnt want to guess the amount of time out of a /played that was spent flying here and there handing in quests, picking up items and the rest.

One thing that annoys me...the fact that ghosts and wisps can walk/float on top of water...but not lava, which is actually a thicker liquid.

The one thing that bugs me the most is the bug rate of the bloody dragonmaw transporters (or whatever their names are). They make the quest "The not-so-friendly skies" a waste of time. Especially when one bugs up by not coming down when I shoot him but then deciding to come back when I'm killing a different one!

But it is fun to watch them swim around for a while before they decide to come to you.

For me, it would have to be daze. I've been dazed up to seven times in a row by mobs in Hellfire Peninsula (thanks so much for putting about 51,000 of those stupid vultures right in front of the Temple of Telhamat, Blizzard). Why can't daze have diminishing returns like everything else?

Also, this current guild I'm in. Really bugging me.

i hate when mobs lag out or are bugged and attack you but you have no clue where they are, OR if theyre standing 20 yards away but their melee attacks still register, i got killed by a mage mob that lagged out and he continued to kill me while i was in ghost form...

That reminds me of my first char. I didn't know I could re-enchant stuff, so to level up on my noobish enchanter, I bought 30 pieces of cheap vendor bracers and enchanted them all.... *lol*

The game performance has declined drastically, recently.
Whenever I am in Shattrath or around anyone of the opposing faction, the interface lags all to hell. This only happens with opposing faction members, because it will only happen in places where the two factions might gather. So, I am certain it is not like my computer.

What bugs me the most is racial comments in wow. I can't stand playing with people that feel the need to say/yell/type the N word in this game. Just because you are safely behind a computer screen doesn't mean you can be a bigit. Sack up and say it in front of someone in real life so you get your teeth knocked out, or shut your mouth.
