It seems like there are more DCs lately so I'm more willing to believe that a person is having trouble. Many of my guildies have been having problems lately with lag and DCs and so have I.

So, I'm a Richard.

What's the best way to "DC"? My playtime is so limited between school and work now and I honestly have problems saying "You guys suck, goodbye" that I end up sticking it out when I am in agony every second and have so many better things to do. Alt+F4? Unplug the internet cable/turn off the wireless?

Or is there actually a productive line that can get you out of an ugly situation without looking like the horrible person?

Zepoodle: [responding to suggestion of evolving WoW] Undead starting quests now involve torturing small animals. Blood Elf starting quests now consist of visiting strip clubs in Silvermoon and having hashish orgies. The Argent Dawn retires and gets into banking. Mograine's son becomes a worthless alcoholic devastated by his uselessness in a world that has moved on. Instead of "Turn Undead," paladins get "Hammertime", which forces the targeted player to dance uncontrollably for 20 seconds.

Eh, I must have good luck, because I don't get in PuGs with that many issues. For example, the thread starter posted about RFD. I ran that twice last night, once on my hunter and once on my priest. No deaths on my hunter, one death on my priest because I was healing and the tank pulled while I was drinking. The tank was the one that died, I rezzed him and we moved on. Both runs took about an hour each. I'm pretty happy with the people I meet recently. I did get into an RFK run on my hunter where I was only going because I wanted a certain pet ability (meaning that I didn't have a pet, and I informed the group beforehand) and they were all underlevelled and we didn't make it anywhere, but the warrior wanted to stay, so I hopped on my main and cleared it up to where I could get the pet ability, hopped on my hunter and got the pet, and hopped back on my main and finished the instance. I guess you could call that a bad PuG, but I didn't want anything else from the instance so I wasn't upset.

It might just be my server but the chance of anyone entering a successful PUG for pretty much any instance with everyone in the appropriate level range is 1 in 4. Unfortunately for me, everyone and their mom has some level 70 friend that is willing to run them through instances and bring a group along with them.

I don't like it. I'm sorry, I am a hardcore fan of you need to do instances with people your level. Not only do I find it more enjoyable but I don't have to hear about some level 70 warlock doing 45% of the damage while my measly 55 Hunter is only doing 20%. **** you. I like to compete for the top of the dps meter and I like to be in parties that are challenge.

The best time I ever had in an instance happens to be in one that I despise, ST. ST offers almost no good gear for a hunter and the only reason I went there was for a quest I have to do to get this nice little trinket. Well, the party wiped 3 times on that final green dragon that offers the crappy poison trinket because the tank kept getting sleeped and then the dragon would go after me. Considering I made up almost 40% of the damage and OT, the moment I died and the pally tanked remained asleep we were guarenteed to wipe. Well, those guys were a blast. No one gave up, the underleveled tank was absolutely hysterical. And when we finally did kill him after making up a strategy where my pet was sent in first so he would be put to sleep, there was a huge sense of accomplishment.

Unforuntely, most PUGs I am in suck. I think I have attempted BRD 15 times now and have never gotten past that hallway with all the elementals. I hate questing in Silithus so it is gonna take me forever to get to 58 and I don't think I will ever even get to see LBRS or get my Beaststalker set.

Ahh, I hate when I see someone say that in my party. Since I am always the healer (70 holy priest) I always feel its my fault when we wipe, because my healing wasn't good enough to keep everyone alive.

And when someone pulls out that line on me, it makes me feel like they know its my fault and my heals suck. After that, I usually go without healing/ doing instances for a few days because I feel bad.

Ahh well, theres the female sensitivity for you.

All that aside-- I don't think I've ever had an 'idiot'... or a bad PuG. Yes, some people leave like 10 minutes in but big deal, get a replacement.

The only 'idiots' I've met was some new players, which, after having things explained to them, acted good. We were all newbies once, have a heart.

edit: my spacebar hates me.

Alt+F4 works for me. Its never planned I just end up getting really really p*ssed off and in a moment of anger just crash the game.

I've had mostly really good luck with pugs. You have a rough one here or there, but I've found that they usually reveal themselves pretty quickly. Pugs can also be freaking amazing, and I've met people pugging that now form some of my regular instancing partners.

My DC story is also about a raiding incedent. We were running kara. In the past weeks we had been having a little trouble due to undergeared people. We had a group of 9 guildies, and a warrior logged on. When asked he said he'd like the rep, but was having connection problems and so didn't want to come on the raid. Fair enough, we pugged a hunter someone knew. The hunter was awesome btw.

So we one shot attumen. Then the hunter sat out while we did the moroes trash to let the warrior get rep. We pulled the hunter back in for the boss fight. Then we cleared to maiden, (the warrior was busy for this trash) and killed maiden. We were at the opera event, and the warrior found out from guild chat and all of a sudden he wanted to go. I guess his DC problems were over? Well, seing as it was OZ and the first time for our guild, we a) didn't want to have someone DC, and b) if we pug someone through 3 bosses, and they sat out for trash I'm not going to kick them for someone else who didn't want to help with the other 3. So at that point he left the guild.

We'd noticed before that he tended to get DC problems when we were having trouble with a fight so there wasn't too much weeping at that. Interestingly enough we found out he wanted legacy, which would have gone to the guild hunter anyway. oh well.
