Hey everyone...

Is there a patch that came out today? I was unaware that they were giving one out but either way when I tried to log in it did the whole verifying, handshaking, etc... then it went to the downloading update screen... I figured there wouldn't be too much of a problem and it would just download as it always had...

When it was done downloading I pressed the restart button so it would go to the Blizz downloader and it was only like 3 megs... so because I have dialup it finished in about 20 mins or so and I went to check up on it and it said it had an error installing the patch and I should click the repear button to do a file check and to reset everything back to defaults... so I did hoping that it wasn't anything serious because it said the other option is to reinstall the program... I really dont want to have to reinstall and then download ALL THOSE PATCHES over DIALUP again!

So anyways it finished with it and I got back in the game... It had the cenematic for BC play and blah blah blah... I tried logging in again and it said it needed to download the patch so I waited again and then pressed the restart program button again so it would go to the blizz downloader... once again it gave me the same darn error!

It says:

The file: "C:\program files\world of warcraft\wow-partial-1.MPQ" could not be opened, because an error 108 occured. If this problem persists then you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support.

To check the installation for problems, click the "repair" button. The repair tool can automatically fix many update errors.

SO after I click the repair button as I said before it resets everything and continues to do the same thing... am I really only stuck with the option of having to reinstall my game? I really hope someone here can tell me otherwise.... >.<

It sounds like you might have to bite the bullet on this one. Not sure if you are a premium member but if you are you can download all the patches here a lot faster and it should help a little.

Can you try downloading the patch from some other source?

Then install it?

actually I was thinking that is worth a try.. anyone know a mirror site where I can get the patch from instead of the blizz downloader?

and nah.. I dont have vista... I use XP on this computer. My other computer has vista but it has no impact on this computers performance. =)

I refuse to install vista for like another year. I don't want to be Microsoft's test subject....

I will not get Vista until it comes on a new machine. Even then I might just install XP. It'll be 3 years before the get all the bugs worked out.

OP, just because i won't say it, doesn't mean you dont have to reinstall :P

and yeah vista is buggy now and will be for a while, that's why most people are stickin with xp except for the idiots that think they're cool if they get vista first.

Anyone know of a good site to get patches off of?

I think I'm gonna go ahead and try to download the patch and install it from another site before I give up 3 weeks of internet for patches... sheesh I might as well just cancel the darn game... >.<

Fileplanet normally has the patches up pretty quickly, and even a full patch for all the patches that have come out before. Sort of a 1.0 to 2.x patch type thing. In another thread here someone who is a regular here posted a link to the most current patch from his own FTP or something too. Can't be farther than page 2, though probably on page 1 still.

The file wow-partial-1.MPQ is from another patch. cant remember which one but it was the 700meg patch. Move it to another folder and then run the patch exe for 2.0.6 to 2.0.7. I had the same prob till one of my friends told me what to do. lets hope this fixes your prob.

Probably the 1.12 to 2.0 patch, as that is the only huge patch I can think of atm. Though, even then I think that was like 450 megs...

Right click on WOW and select Run as administrator when you need to install a patch.
