This is a new thread concentrating on what you think the site needs to meet your needs.

  • What do you think we are missing
  • What type of searches to you want?
  • What sort of additional things would you like your profile to show?
  • Any other suggestions you may have?

Feel free to suggest anything, even if it sounds impossible to do. We may be able to figure it out. I will try to keep this post more updated than the last one with periodic updates etc.

Thanks!

Interaction between the site and the characters you upload via WoWReader increased.

Our own talent calculator.

Talent abilities put into the skills list.

To see items which are created by recipes show the item with its stats and the recipe with its materials on the same page.

Battleground forums.

Quest organized by Reputation via search.

I think it would be really cool if the interaction between the site and the characters you upload via WoWReader increased.

For instance, say WoWReader is modified to also upload your quest log. You can then click on the various quests in the quest log, and be brought to the quest information that is on the site.

Another possibility would be a "quest route suggester", which would suggest quests based on the level of your character and the current area that you're in. It could even suggest the optimal series of actions for your location! And if you continually and consistently update your character profile on Alla while you level, it will automatically exclude any quests you have already done.

For example; say you log your level 32 Alliance character out in Booty Bay. You ask the quest suggester what you should do next. It then browses the quest data base for nearby zones, and suggests that you:

1) Accept quests from such and such NPCs in Booty Bay. (gives links to the NPCs and quests)
2) Travel up to Nesingwary's Camp and accept the quests offered there. (gives coordinates of Nesingwary's Camp, links to the NPCs there, and links to the quests)
3) Head up to the Rebel Camp and accept those quests. (same as above)
4) Kill enemies in the Kurzen camp (gives location of the Kurzen camp and links to the enemies you have to kill)
5) Kill beasts for the Nesingwary quests (gives locations of the beasts and links to their data)
6) Turn in quests at the Rebel Camp (gives links to quests and loc. of the Rebel Camp)
7) Turn in quests at Nesingwary's Camp (gives links to quests and loc. of turn-in NPCs)
8) Kill enemies for the quests you received back at Booty Bay

...and so on. (sorta like Mapquest)

Another idea would be to give suggested grinding spots based on your character's level, faction, and professions. It would calculate the value of vendor trash, average item price on the AH, whether not the location would be easily accessible (it wouldn't suggest Deadmines for a Hordie, for instance), and whether or not your gathering professions can take advantage of the area, then display the top-valued areas for your purposes and the coordinates of the mobs you want to hunt.

In short, just more ways to improve the experience in-game while increasing site interactivity with your uploaded profiles.

I would like our own talent calculator, it's a shame we have to visit other sites to play around with builds.

I would like to see this site have the talent abilities put into the skills list. Such as Hunters having Counterattack at level 30 (talent) but they dont have Aimed Shot at level 20 (talent).

I was wondering if you could do this to all classes and include all ranks at the appropriate levels.

Thank you for reading this.

Some more "Back" links. Smiley: sly

Illia? Illia! "Back" links?

Oh, and the ability to search on just Author.

Edit: And as mentioned above, if someone would go through the spells/abilities and filter out the stuff that doesn't really exist as well as the variables.

Example:

Astral Recall
Yanks the caster through the twisting nether back to $z. Speak to an Innkeeper in a different place to change your home location.

Protocol error 0? First it was the transport connection error, now, with the most recent reinstall of the reader it's protocol error 0. I'm sure there is more than enough detail about it in the error thread...for some reason all my attempts to post in that thread time out.

I would like to see items which are created by recipes show the item with its stats and the recipe with its materials on the same page.

For example: Copper Chain Boots
Item: (/db/item.html?witem=3469)
Spell: (/db/spell.html?wspell=3319)

On previously similar suggestion on the old (locked) thread, http://wow.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=21;mid=110244643470018129;page=15;howmany=50#11559007981245031 , I referenced Barberic Harness (Example 1)which has three different pages.

Also, combining pages would reduce extraneous searching for components (see my ATD text Example 2 below).

Quote:
I was searching items to see what materials are needed to make them and found entries I think need improving.

Example 1: Barbaric Harness
There are three separate entries for this item:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=5739
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/spell.h...wspell=6661
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/spell.h...wspell=6662

I'm not sure where the third entry (6662) came from, but it would be nice if the components from 6661 were listed on the same page as the item (5739).

Example 2: I needed one Advanced Target Dummy (ATD) for a quest. I could not find any on the Auction House nor was I successful "shouting" for one. So, I figured I could gather the materials, then find an Engineer and have them make it for me.

I looked up ATD and found this page: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=4392 No components here.
Now I click on the ATD link in the "Created by:" section. This takes me to: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/spell.h...wspell=3965 Yay, a list of components.

Now I click on the first item Iron Strut. Hmmm, no components here. So I look for the "Created by:" link to find the list of components.

I go back and forth check each item (2 pages) until I finally finish my list.

Now I'm not saying that the full individualized component list should appear under Advanced Target Dummy, just that each item should have its components listed on the Item page. This will cut down on the search time for the user and, possibly save web space if the additional pages were removed.

I edited the original post for clarity

Thanks,
Kypp

Also, I'd like to see battlegroup forums, just for the sake that Blizzard doesn't host them themselves.

I'd like to see a search option where we can look up where the most common places to find certain things are. such as herbs, minerals, cloth drops and the like.. for instance. if you were looking to farm mithril you'd be able to find what zones its most common in and such

From what I've read (on the Feedback Forum), they're in the process of adding the shiny new servers. Right now they're running on the new servers alone (remember the craptastic performance earlier this week?). Once they assimilate the old servers into the new server collection (Borrrrrg), things should work again.

Of course, I could be completely off.
