I don't think there should be any confusion as to why a poster or 5 actually rated it down.
As for your other questions:
Wondrous has 2.5K posts, he has a green name, this means he has a high score that not much can bring down, and whatever he posts
starts as Good. He also didn't post a stupid item. That must be why he didn't get rated down. Starting as good and not being rated down, probably means your post is rated Good, huh?
Calabar has a red name, 2.4K posts, and

His posts should start as Good or Excellent, if he got a rate up, it's definately an excellent. His item is, in my opinion, rather funny and not too overpowered, but compare it to the other pieces of crap posted here, and it shines like a million diamonds.
Iniin, while having >1K posts, got a rate down. His item is IMO the funniest here, but someone must have rated it down for the tired legolas reference. He used to be a scholar, IIRC, and his rating is 3.00, so he just lost it...
Besides all that, the time when Blupp was popular, our boards got so flooded with Blupp items that most of the regular posters got sick and tired of reading about them, and I guess in a defense mechanism type reaction, started discouraging posters from going back down that road by hitting that rate button.
All of this, I repeat, is my opinion, and how I deduce things.
Now, the last post you got down rated on was a Karma whining post, so that's not a surprise either, since you should know from the FAQ that many posters are so tired about that type of ranting that they rate it down automatically.
All clear?
Now, thanks for bringing this thread to my attention. I'll see what I can do about the rates here... *Snicker*
