Since blizzard has decided that the factions shouldn't have any difference why not just write some **** and bull story about how you can betray your side and go to the other. i'd do it, hell i'd pay them money if they could flip a switch and change my characters race.

i'm sure it wouldnt be that hard to think up.

thoughts?

I'm not sure that even the most bizarre twisting of lore would allow for Forsaken to just go *poof!* and suddenly become Night Elves, even with a quest.

maybe not quest to become a NE, but a cure to the plague is possible(well sort of) Even if they didn't change race it could be something like they deal a great blow to the horde for the alliance. Mostly i just want to make my lock an alliance char now :/

FTFY.

If they allowed horde-alliance transers when they're doing server transfers, our guild would be full of tricked out hordies and the like, as a lot of us are generally horde before our Anetheron rollings, savvy? ARR!

By the second expansion Alliance and Horde will unite together to defeat a greater enemy. Till then lets have fun with our kill the other faction policy.

Although your post strikes me as a little passive-aggressive in its delivery, you bring up an interesting option that the expansion will bring about. Since the unique classes are no longer a factor, it could theoretically be possible to mingle entirely and go through a faction changing quest.

There are, however, some significant issues with that...the main one being in PvP land, visual identification of race is one of the main factors in determining if you should be ready for a fight or not. PvP would get significantly more confusing... "Is that NE mind controlled or horde side or what?!?"

I don't think it'll happen, however, as that really would ruin one of the fundamental concepts of the game...and I have a hard time thinking horde having shaman and alliance having paladins as a fundamental game concept...

I would be a big fan of removing the big red names above people's heads to enable natural hiding and such, ambiguous friendship at a distance would be a good thing imo.

You bring up a good point, but the only way I could see this being plausable would be this (but I coulden't see a plausable way for each race to transfer, only certain ones).

They could come up with a "cure" quest for the undead as has been said, making you "living" and they could once again become thier night elf or human self's again.

And the Night elf's or Human's could have a quest to become "tainted" (undead) and join the horde as an undead player. I have yet to see a gnome or dwarf undead (im not counting the leper gnomes or dark iron agent's, they arn't undead in the slightest).

The problem is NE has the druid job, which would give the horde undead the druid job which woulden't "technically go with lore (not that Blizz care's about lore as of late). And paladin's would also be givin to the undead.

I just think there would be to many problems with it, BG's would become a mess if they kept thier original race, it would be hard (even with the red names) in a huge group in AV to determine who was who.

Anyways those are my thought's on the subject.

I have two points to make.

sure they can, with orb of deception.

Not if it's between my human warr and a female tauren druid.

Alright, I'm sane again, back on topic, there might be a way to implement this with sort of a "permanent" orb of deception, The stealing knowledge horde quest requires you to speak with a human mage, maybe he could give out the quest to alliance? I have no Idea on how to implement this on the horde side though. Also, the only reason I would support this idea is so my chars don't get targeted by tauren NPC's as soon as I walk in range; I don't want to OMFGWTFBBQPWN any tauren, and I certainly don't want to get OMFGWTFBBQPWNed by them. And a quest for UD to get cleansed wouldn't make sense, if you cure the plague of undeath then they're not UN-dead anymore, just dead. Likewise a quest for humans to get "tainted" would make less, because if I'm not mistaken undeath is looked upon as a BAD thing by humans. And remember kids, the only good undead is a dead undead.

I think switching factions is more likely to become a reality than changing your race.

Although many, many people would not like this, it would be 'sort of' neat to see blizzard allow us to betray our current faction.

If you can eat deviate delight and magically turn into a pirate or ninja, I don't think changing factions is that far fetched of an idea.

You get captured by the opposing faction and held against your will.

They remove your soul and place it in a casket that is locked with all different powerful spells.

In return for your life, they decide to use you to spy on your own faction and then you gte a series of quests that you can do.

But, you can take a different route. At the end of it, you get the option to to do more quests with them. And eventually, you're rep goes down down down down in any of your factions territory.

And goes up up up in yoru enw faction. To the point where you are considered one of them.

Yes i made it up as I went along.

I thought it was better than the whole "POOF" you are now Horde. Forgetting that I had mindlessly killed many a Horde.

A quest strain that ends in you having to sacrifice yourself and coming back as a member of the undead would be cool. But the major problem is that the Horde races simply aren't as pretty.

And there will still be differences between factions, the same hundreds of differences there are at the moment. If it was simply down to the Pally/Shammy thing, then nobody would bother being warriors, mages, warlocks or priests.

Now that I think about it, buddahs right, it should be more gradual than just "poof, you are now a member of the horde." There could even be different quests for each class, rogue- steal some documents and return to your new factions capital; druid- something to do with the cenarion circle; paladin- destroy certain shrine of the light and select new class (just making it up as I go, so, cut me some slack); preist- assist a horde raid on certain alliance city/outpost/town; warrior- protect a horde party traveling through alliance territory; hunter- capture X animals used as alliance mount, return to whatever horde NPC; mage- I'm beat here, you make something up; shaman- disturb elemental ballance in this and that horde area, select new class. Well, there you have it, just my two cents.

I'm with Quinz (aka Chiel). With there being no more differences except appearnace between the factions, and with transfers, I'd love to be able to make my Horde Hunter into an Alliance.

Hell, I'd even make Omusa the Tauren into Omusa the Night Elf is I had to.

I wouldn't even make an in-game quest. Just do a transfer option to change your race to the other faction. The only things lost would be faction specific BG and PvP gear and any other miscelleanous faction-specific gear (Blackhand's Breadth for example).

Taurens become Dwarves
Trolls become Night Elves
Undead become Humans
Orcs become Dwarves

I'd willingly pay for that to happen. It gets rid of the BG issue of race identification and it would be somewhat easy to pull off in transfers. I'd willingly lose my faction specific gear and the chance to get the other-factions version if I could switch.

Just do what you do in sports with a group of friends, shirts and skins. Of course the other side has to be skins because I sure as hell aint taking my armor off.
