Have a question that isn't covered...

Is there a way to mark all posts in a forum as "read"? Am I just missing it?

Thanks

Hey mike, I think this link could be a useful addition to the FAQ.

In a section about newb/n00b differences.

You really should re-name this topic to "Forum FAQ - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING". I've seen so many stupid questions around here that could be solved simply by reading the first five questions in the FAQ. Judging by the characters of the people who ask said questions, the capital letters should get their attention. Smiley: tongue

If you can't edit it for some reason, ask an admin, I'm sure one of them would be willing to do it.

I agree with Dodo. The title needs to be more attention grabbing.

look at this for an example as to why:

I like how the # of views has already gone up dramatically since you "fixed" the title. Smiley: grin

Mike, just a quick note re: point 21. In this thread, SquigglyLine provided a macro that can be used to show coordinates without an addon. Here's the text:
SquigglyLine wrote:
Create a macro using this script (just copy & paste it):

/script px,py=GetPlayerMapPosition("player")
/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(format("[ %s ] %i , %i",GetZoneText(),px*100,py*100));

You click on the macro and it will give you your coordinates in the chat pane.

Now you can use all those quest tips where they only give you coordinates for the mob/item you are looking for.

Thanks, Wondroustremor. I'll add it in.

Mike could we add something about not putting links in your post and expecting people to click them if you are a new poster. We are having so much trouble at the moment with the keyloggers it's incredably difficult to know which ones are legit. Personally I dont click links from anybody under 50posts.

Maybe something like "Why I am I getting rated down just for including links" or something like that, just a thought :).

While this is happening now, I still like people posting links for things like WoW videos, pics of new stuff, links to interesting o-posts, etc. I don't rate down posts with links as something automatic. At this time, however, I'm very leery about clicking on a link. I expect that sooner or later, this phenomenum will end and we will be back to normal. I don't want to put in something that I might have to remove in the future, even though I'm as concerned as you are.

My idea is an "OMG I need help with my class" section with links to the appropriate forums. Of course in some cases, their question is pretty specific, but at least they'll be pointed in the right direction and will have a place to start searching for info/asking for help.

Even though it's kinda redundant to have links in there that are on the bar to the right, it would still be quite helpful for new people who don't know how to navigate the site very well.

Druid forums - Druid 101
Hunter forums - EVERY QUESTION ANSWERED HERE - AZ Math
Mage forums - Mage Talent Specs. - Mage FAQ - Critical Strike Gear.
Paladin forums - Paladin FAQ (read here first)
Priest forum - [No Stickys available at this time]
Rogue forum - WoW Lockpicking FAQ - Rogue Poison FAQ - Rogue Guide
Shaman forum - Shaman FAQ
Warlock forum - Warlock Guide, FAQ, Read This First!
Warrior forum - [No Stickys available at this time]

Maybe also a "Where can I find monsters around my level to kill?" section with a link to the "Zones by level" page.

I'm not really certain that either of those are frequently asked...

However, one thing that stood out to me was the lack of stickies for Priests and Warriors.

There is no lack of guides for Warriors on Alla - So perhaps that line could read:

Warrior forum - An End-game Warriors' guide v1.2 - The Way of the Punch Bag - A Guide to Tanking v2.0 - Warrior How-to: Fight multiple mobs (for cash and experience)

There really isn't a priest guide here, but there's no reason not to point to outside sources. I've found WoW Priest Guide v. 1.01 to be particularly useful. Maybe the priest line could be:

Priest forum - WoW Priest Guide v. 1.01

After seeing a large number of guild recruitment posts here, I added Question #25.

25. Is this the proper place to advertise my guild?
