Ack! That is a great question, one that ive never thought of.

The game is very playable with just mouse use though if finding a joystick doesnt happen. (you can just click on your abilities rather than use the keyboard hotkeys.)

edit: but no, i know of no joystick that would work with WoW.

Two routes you can go. Either Joypad or Joystick. Joypad being the PlayStation-esque ones and the JoySTICKS, which you are looking for, which have the stick thingy poking up to use.

Personally, I usually buy stuff from http://www.newegg.com and have done a small list for you: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=GO&Range=1&bop=and&description=joystick&InnerCata=123

I personally like the joyPADS with the analog thumb buttons, but do not know how well they will work in WoW. In most (if not all) the drivers for the hardware allow full customization of all buttons to do pretty much anything ya want.

Enjoy!

Joystick play may be rough, I have configed a gamepad(previously discribed) with walking and jumping commands, as well as "Tab" to target, and auto attack, but now I got both hands on this thing and cant do jack without letting go and clicking with a mouse. I did this for a epelitic who has some nerological dammage from his sugery. and it didnt work so well, we re arranged and got a game pad with more buttons, and that worked, for some stuff, but he was still limited to 4-5 actions on the game pad. One poster here on the alla pages referd to a N52, and I ended up getting one for myself, and showed it to my buddie(whos left sidedammaged and his arma and hand rest close to his right leg, he is able to set the N52(part keyboard/part amepad) on his right leg and with a mouse can get arround as fast as anybody else, just takes some time to cast as he has to click everything(he still is a amazing healer).
P.S. their is a add for the N52 in the link above me.

Ok I know this is off topic but Im rating you up capitolg because that's an awesome thing of you to do helping out your friend in that much detail. Most people would just make a minor effort and then give up. Really cool of you to do that man.

Also the rate up is because this is usefull info ^_^.

Lots of joysticks come with applications to remap joystick movements/buttons to keypresses. The MicroSoft Sidewinder series used to come with software like this.

To All, Thank you! Great stuff. I found the Belkin Nostromo n52 SpeedPad. The game pad works best for me after reprogramming to use the zxcs keys rather than asdf--puts the movement keys closer to the hand/palm rest. This forces the user to curl fingers and strike downward with the fingertips. My only remaining wish is that the n52 SpeedPad had a softer touch, again to reduce amount of force required. The improved positioning has made it easier for gramp's carpal tunnel/arthritis afflicted hands to play this fantastic game.

The keys do start out a little stiff, try some Super Lube Dry Film lubricant on the keys.
