Ok so the other day with my 34 priest I wanted to do SM. I partyed with 3 hunters 34-37 and a 47 warrior. I wanted to do library for the staff. but I got out voted and we did armory first. after about a hours worth a work we got to Herod and he droped the helm. then 2 hunters left but we still had the 47 warrior and a priest so we continued to library. after about another hours worth a work we get to the last boss and I could smell that staff... we killed him and he droped the staff liked planed and the hunter says "oooo nice staff" and I'm like "thanks :)" and I roll need. then I got a HUGE smile on my face cuz I knew I was going to get it.. then I look down AND THE HUNTER GOT IT!! HE ROLLED NEED AND WON THE STAFF!!!! I WAS SOOOOOOOOoOOOOOOoooOOO mad at him.. all he said was he was sorry and that hunters can use staff's to... but the staff did +15 to intellect! why would a hunter need intellect... after about 10 min of being mad I just got one of my guildmates to run though it for me in about 30 min and the staff droped and I was just happy I got my staff :)

anyone else have dumb people on there server?

Actually, Hunters use mana, and Int gives more mana and spell crit chance. A Hunter's shots are mana-based, and technically spells; so the Int helps them. It also has stamina, which is nice.

That being said, I think you should have gotten it, not the Hunter. But it's not tough to run through and get the staff; it is only one side, and as you said, it took like 30 minutes to get it.

So, I'm glad you got it. A Hunter could use it, but yes, you should have gotten it ^_^

my favorite sting by far

"character gets pwned for 20 sec, stackable effects"

thats weak.

on a related note, i tend to go for alot of intellect, spirit and stamina so yeah.

That sucks. I have rarely seen a Hunter with a staff.

And a Hunter saying 'I can use that' is hilarious since they can train every weapon type.

I mean, there are probably better Hunter weapons out there for sure at that level.

LOL, that reminds me of the enchanters who role need on every item because they can use it for disenchanting.

I hate those guys.

Or the people who roll need on everything and, when you ask them if they really need it, they say "Yes, I need it to sell for money"

Only encountered someone like that once, but that's quite enough for me.

Normally I'd say that hunters rolling need on gear that they can actually use is just fine.

But give me a break. This hunter rolling on a staff is like a mage rolling on a bow or gun. Staves and wands are mage/priest/warlock primary weapons, just like a bow or gun are hunter primary weapons.

He should not have rolled on that staff.

Those are the hunters that give the rest of us a bad name :(. Just because you can equip the item, doesn't mean you NEED the item. However, in many PuGs personal need/want is seen as the aim rather than being happy that someone else got a very nice, very useable upgrade.

I'm glad to hear that you're guildies helped you out after this, it's a very nice staf to use for awhile. I've seen high 40s-low 50s priests with it. (Albeit, it's no longer the best, but still useable.)

The staff also has a required level of 34, so, yes, the OP could certainly use it at the time of the drop.

You've just learned a harsh lessson my friend.

Every item in the game is a hunter item

And there's not a damn thing the rest of us can do about it.

In all seriousness tho, the 'Hunter can use that too' mentality displayed by many hunters is the main reason it's so hard for hunters to find a party. Most people only need to get burned once, and after that they'll have a hard time inviting hunters again.

Only takes a few rotten apples to ruin the bunch.

I myself try to avoid pt'ing with hunters unless I know them for that very reason.... heck, not so long ago with my warrior on wildhammer, a hunter rolled 'Need' on the Ravager when there was a warrior and a shaman in the pt. Luckily, he didn't win it.

i didnt mean lvl 30 item as its a piece of crap.

i meant level 30s item as its very easily obtainable.

so i think youre the one who needs to quiet down.

I used one briefly (i forget what level) but itwas the Something staff of Agility and had like +14 AGI on it and was quite nice.

but yea that particular staff should definatley have gone to a caster.

If a hunter is having that much issue with mana then he needs to learn to control himself a bit more.

Ironic, how the need or greed system always seems to give the item to the person who needs it least.

Master looter in future I suspect.

First, the Hunter Epic is a freaking staff, so get off the "Staffs are for casters only" kick.

Second, Hunters use mana, so we are casters, our class set is full of Intellect.

Third, the Hunter in question is a MORON for rolling need over the Priest.

Fourth, Hunters cannot train in every weapon type, please stop spreading misinformation.

1. yes so the ML warrior can ninja the ranged weapon. (*edit* or so the ML rogue can ninja my beaststalker gloves)
2. Hunter IS a moron for rolling against a caster on an int+ staff
3. Epic weapon is a STAFF
4. Hunters cannot uses maces
5. We are NOT a caster class, we are a ranged dps who uses mana
6. Before you go and blame a hunter, try reading this http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-hunter&t=748128&p=1&tmp=1#post748128
7. You people and your misconceptions...
