Rules for duelling?Follow

#77 Jun 10 2005 at 6:20 AM Rating: Decent
And "winning" a duel doesnt mean anything. Ok, so you get a little line that says you defeated the guy. Big deal. I dueled a few rogues who kept on going stealth, and the fight would take ages. I get bored, and leave to do some questing. Sure, I "lose" the duel, but so what?

Duel is for practicing YOUR skill, not measuring how strong you are, or how big your **** is. If you wanna do that, go PvP. If the other guy wants to use all his tricks, hen fine by me, it just teaches you how to react to those.

I dont know know, i must've fought 30 odd duels, and I have no idea how many i won/lost. It so doesnt matter. Its for you, not for some higher moral honour than only God can see: "Look god, I won fighting naked using no potions, and only 2 of my 34 skills, while he was using explosive blow-up dolls!!" Yipee.

As they say, its not the arrival that matters, its the journey.

I personally don't duel much. The surprise attack is a Rogue's most important advantage and the surprise is kinda limited in a duel.

The Hunter is an excellent example of this. I'll get owned by most Hunters my level or above in duels. They'll Flare and use Frost Trap to ***** my surprise attack. Then they'll use DoTs and movement impairing effects (omgz cheatz0r!11one) and I'm done.

In real time PvP I'll usually have the opening shot, catching the Hunter unprepared. He won't Flare, he will probably use traps if I let him, but am Aimed Shot doesn't mean that much if I'm at full health and he's down to 25% with 4 combo points on him.

Get close and bam you die.

It is simple. If no one specifies a particular rule, then it is no-holds-barred.

If someone says "no potions" then I will go with no potions.

There is no "fair" in this game. With the "rock-scissors-paper" type of class balance, some classes need an edge to have a chance in a duel, period. Two like classes dueling shouldn't need potions, but so what if someone wants to use one? Both sides have that option.

The person who really wants to win the most, will pull out the stops and use trinkets, potions, and every manner of engineering to secure a win.

I YOU don't want to win that badly, then I guess you were meant to lose. Besides, it is only a duel, who cares? Shamans will likely have the best records anyway. =P

Dude, I dont think a cop should have this as his signature. It might encourage other easily-suggestible people. Very irresponsible on your behalf. I think MRASCWNVP (Mother of Responsible America and Safety for The Children of the World so No Violence Please) would be deeply offended. They might even write complain letters to Alla, and have Bush shut this site down. Is that what you want?

i found that most of those people that disagree with using potions are the cheap stingy bastards. Since they are cheapo and dont wanna waste THEIR gold on using a potion, they don't want anyone esle to.

I say if ya can do it, do it. Cheap unfair, why? because i made one and you didnt? cause i visited the AH and you didnt?

have ya ever had a mob call you a cheater because you quaffed a pot?

I have heard of some rediculous rules while folks duel, like you can't heal your self, you cant sap me.

***** it, I'm playing my character to it's fullest, that incluse my invunerable shield, healing, pots, sharpening stones, stuns, band-aides, anything i can to win. You don't like that, don't duel me. Hell, i'd bite ya and grab your balls if the game allowed it. A duel is a fight, and i plan on winning.

This is a dangerous statement assumption to make. To say either way that something is either always accepted or always rejected unless specifically stated otherwise is ALWAYS a bad assumption
