primer on /locFollow

#1 Jul 13 2012 at 8:39 PM Rating: Decent
I was wondering if someone could give me a primer on the /loc system.

I have spent double digit hours trying to find the plunder chest at the tower ruins in Zek (And I knew what /loc was)

I have spent double digit hours searching for the temple of versheen in Anticondia to find journal for haddens earring quest. (and I know what /loc it is)

I get to less than 1 point off id e-w, NS axis but hight is wrong so the point is 1/2 way across the zone. I am ot sure how the Z axis changes the spot if you are really close on the X & Y axis after all it should be in the sky or in the ground.

using the /loc system should make things easier to find so I am not sure why I can not find anything.

Darn it, there was a guide around here somewhere and I can't find it. EQ2 loc's are actually x, z, y, where z is the vertical axis. You can replace the center value with a zero and the loc should be correct except for height - not across the zone.

When we record loc's we do our best to stand on the object/mob/item's toes. Then we type /loc and get a value. We then take that value and put it into our loc template that formats it nice and adds the copy button. We often lose the decimal places.

Click our copy button and what you get on your clipboard is "/waypoint <digits>" that you can paste to your chat window.

The most common error using waypoints and loc's is missing a negative, which *will* put you halfway across the zone.

PS: We highly recommend the EQ2 Maps addon from our sister site, EQ2 Interface: http://maps.eq2interface.com/

Thanks-- EQ loc was much different I think that went X.Y,Z. I will try copying the locs and get waypoint as well as getting maps.
I hope it helps. Nice to have good orientation
