Picking a classFollow

I'm a soloer as well and always stick with the classes I enjoy playing the most. I have a level 90 Swashbuckler which is my walking swathe of destruction. :) A few of my guildies really enjoy Shadowknight and have played them up near (or at) max. My next closest chars are a Troubadour (which is difficult to solo with as you get higher in level) and Berserker (which is loads of fun).

IMO any class is soloable to max level. Just choose the one that you have the most fun with and run with it!

Pretty much just this. Obviously some healer archetypes will be slower than say a mage class, but if you have more fun with one then it doesnt matter what you like (and if you like them all you can always cheat and buy extra character slots now )

Well, I suppose soloing difficult content will require serious gear and spell acquirements. A lot of classes can go into tough instances and do well, but you would need the proper gear for that.

Monks don't do that well for soloing group instances, or rather not the high level ones. I can take my monk to just about any instance now, mentored down that is. Although I have taken down lvl 90 triple heroics on my own too, but that's after the most recent expansion, when stats and mits were boosted quite a lot with new gear and in older zones. Problem with a monk is that if a target has a lot of hp, it's usually no good. We only get one healing spell, and a self rez spell too with AA's so technically two I suppose, even three as that self rez spell can nowadays be boosted by more AA's. But our dps isn't all that grand, so prolonged fights don't usually go well for monks. (imo anyway) We can try to avoid all we want, we do get hit from time to time.

(I did forget to add: with our own heal, feign death and invisibility, a monk is a great class for soloing and having fun. It's hilarious to use your group fd for the first time by accident and nobody knows what hit them :D. We even have a fear spell, although I have no idea when that one was added. In short, great for soloing, that's for sure.)
