One simply needs to already be at least a level 10 tradeskiller in any tradeskill, have the Echoes of Faydwer expansion, and visit a Tinkering Trainer or Master. The trainers can be found on the docks in Butcherblock Mountains or in the treetop city of Kelethin.

For more info read up on Tinkering at http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/The_Tinkering_FAQ

Dyadem beat me to the link. *snap*

Follow that you'll be on your way!

Something to note.. you're going to need loam.. and ALOT of it! So, if you're not already harvesting get to it! Unless of course you have some sort of EQ2 Trust Fund with 100's of plat in it and a very lenient Trustee. ;)

Could also just have the harvesters in your GH to go harvest for ya, that would surely save you some time :)

Personaly the cost in time, material and coin that leveling tinkering up costs I would only suggest it if you are highly tradeskill ****-retentive. The rewards really dont justify any of the stuff you get as it stands now. It is in need of a MAJOR overhall.

Given how little time we have, given all the things we have to do, can you really afford to play a game you don't enjoy?

While I agree that it can cost a bit to level up (unless you have guild supply box stock full of goodies), There are some really nice rewards, and other 'tinker only' made items. Feign Death item is easily the most sought after reason for becoming a tinker imho, followed by the repair bot. Even already having a FD (Necro, 100% success, Reuse: 2minutes 30seconds with 5 aa into tso), having an extra back up FD is a good call, I can't imagine how much other classes benefit from this.

eta: A tip my long time playing IRL friend showed me at her place this weekend (no nothing kinky, get your minds on track here)

You do NOT need to create high level items. You can do all your skillups by making the crosstrainers. You also do NOT need to make them "pristine". As long as you craft them to the first level (first blue bar out of four), and then hit stop, you will create item and have the chance to skillup.

That is true, you only need to complet the fist "bar" of the crafting proccess, but still I have sat and done a couple dozen combines, white con, to get just one skill up.

Oh, come on now. There are a LOT of nice items you can craft, err, tinker up. Smiley: jester

Off the top of my head, there is the mount that looks like a cloud, the Call of the Tinkerer, Wormhole Generator: Commonlands, Wormhole Generator: Antonica, the repair bot, a personal evac, pets that help you kill mobs, feign death (99%), smolescreen (Invis).

And I guarantee there are many, MANY items you will find useful. These are just the ones that I keep on me at all times. I personally hope they add more blueprints in the next expansion, as well as more levels. I'm stuck at 400/400 now. Smiley: nod
