ok, after a few posts, I've gathered all the info about EQ2 that i feel i need, except one last thing. if anyone has a suggestion...but....where can i go where it won't be so lonely to play?? lol

most guilds are well established in game i'm quite sure, and most of these people will not want to take the time to help a new person to the game, even though it's likely they'll have an alt around the same level, but quite frankly one of the main reasons (not the only reason, just a big one) i join a guild is so i have people to talk to. i'm not in it for the mega loot, although good gear is always nice to get, but my wife has recently stopped playing WoW with me due to her pregnancy and feeling like crap, so now i feel, almost lost. i'm torn between WoW and EQ2, and deep down, i feel like i want to play EQ2, but i don't want to feel alone.

so, if anyone can give me some, well advice i guess. starting on a new server won't be a problem. i have nothing higher than lvl 10 and i have essentially no money so starting over won't be a big deal to me, i just want to get in maybe even meet some people who'll remember me, not just the ones who want to group with me long enough to kill the orc king and then go about their own business. ok, i guess i've rambled enough.

Come to Lucan DLere and join the Rebels of the Sacred Heart. There are a good number of people your level and we are always willing to help out the new guy. We will get you set up with a full set of gear and bags and boxes for your home, bank and inventory. And I think, for the most part, everyone who replies to you in this thread is going to tell you the same thing I told you. Most people in the game are very helpful if you just ask. There are always going to be those jerks who aren't, but that is why they have the /ignore command.

sounds like a good offer to join Lucan DLere server, but it appears that is a RP server, and honestly i've never done that and not sure if i'd be any good at it or if i'd be interested in it at all

Well the RP servers are very deceiving. You can RP as much or as little as you want. You will of course run into some people who like to RP, but they won't get mad at you if you don't. We do not RP at all in our guild. We like to have fun. We are just starting to get some really good guild event ideas too. We are fiddling around with a hide-and-go-seek type of event, as well as some riddle contests. Are motto is not to grind, grind, grind, but to have fun and help each other out.

Najena is also full and has a wide variety of high and low level guilds.

There is always someone in the zones that are willing to help. In fact, with the recent removal of locked encounters, I've seen even more people step up and be helpful.

well i did it. i cancelled my WoW account, and renewed my EQ2 accounts since the 10 day trial expired. now, if i can just settle down and figure out what i want to play. i know that basically all classes serve a purpose in a group, but i'm really curious is what classes will be better to solo with since i'm sure i won't see groups for a while. i've heard that conjurers are the best, but what about with melee classes?

and on a side note, can anyone tell me about EQ2 bards? i wanted to play one in EQ but the difficulty level was a little bit more than i was willing to deal with. are they easier to play now? and how well do those guys solo?

While all of them have there pros and cons all of them are also able to solo. Personally I play a Templar and have no problems soloing even at lvl 34. I know I play a class that most people see as a group class but during the week I am off and on alot so I dont have time to really group at that time. Now I hear there are some "best" classes at soloing mainly any of the ones with pets but any class can do it so just choose a class you will enjoy playing.

There seems to be a great discussion going on in another thread about Bards and their abilities. Check it out here.

well as of 6:30 am i logged into EQ2 to renew my account and saw that the Najena server had a 'medium' population so i'm gonna give them a try, and i'm gonna try out the bard and see how i like it, so whoever mentioned me coming there, keep an eye out for a Kerra scout/bard/?? named Kryx :)

ok. *sigh* so i made a toon on Najena and i read online somewhere that the Najena server is the unofficial Aussie server, so that's no good on my end. nothing against Australia, but i live in the US on the east coast. so i'm curious if anyone knows of a list i can see posted online, or can just tell me, what the heavy easy coast servers are. thx

Of course we are! Just kidding, but actually, there is no "best" class. Just people that are the best at what they do. Every class can effectively solo, they just do it in their own way. So pick something that will lend you a fun experience.

I've had lots of fun as a Conjurer using the pet. It definately brings a different tactic to pulling and fighting mobs. I have to carefully employ my spells to not pull agro. And with the new revamp, I've found that I'm even more deadly. Our pets have gotten a major change to become tank/earth (low DPS, high armor), scout/air (med DPS and armor), or mage/fire (high DPS, low armor).

I was so tickled that I went and dropped 5pp for Adept 3 scout and Adept 3 mage pet. The fire/mage pet looks like a flaming gargoyle.

Bad news is that now I stand at the griffon tower with a cardboard sign, "Will DPS for gold". I'm so poor, I can't even pay attention.

With the much improved master smite spells (I chose skeleton as one), and the double damage my divine strike line does on them, Templars can wipe the floor with undead. There have always been plenty of undead at every level, so far. I can solo any other type of monster, mind you, it just takes longer.

Nektulos is a great server, with good population at all levels and a good economy. Send me a tell if you join and I'll make you a free weapon. I'm in a small but friendly guild looking for members, too.

i realy wouldent recomend my server for you man. its Faydark and the whole freeking server is grind happy. i know of 3 majior raid guilds on my server. its a fun server and all but i have yet to find eny casual gamers on it. even the lower end guilds seem to be grinders. the guild im in right now has 3 chars bellow 30 in it right now. im 31 pally and iv been left in the dust by alts. i would go to a RP server if you arnt sure you can dedicate alot of time. as some of the other servers might be the same.
this ant a bash of grinders its just its so dang hard for me to keep up with them as i have a job school and my mom has cancer.

Well I can't speak for the entire server of Faydark, but I am about as non-grinder as you can get and my guild is so laid back, it's frightening Smiley: lol

OK dude, you have to get your prioritys in order. First of all, if your wife is pregnant you shouldnt be off playin an online game, you need to be there for her 24/7, not literally but you know what i mean. your wife is probably the same way you are, alone without her husband. So stop playing the stupid game and get going to your wife.

And secondly, my cuzin had EQ2 first time it came out and it was loaded with people. Ever since WoW came out, people went to play that. at least thats what my cuz said.
