Lessening the LagFollow

I remember the lag in Bazaar from EQ1. You'd have to pretty much look downwards while you ran around, otherwise you couldn't move because the lag was so bad.

Well, I got to Qeynos and the lag in all the town areas is similar to Bazaar. I lowered many of my settings, but this hasn't helped all that much if at all.

I'm not sure if it is a hardware issue or not. I normally dislike posting computer specs, but for something like this, it may help, so just the important stuff:

Intel 2.4Ghz
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
512 MB RAM

That's probably all that is necessary. If it is a RAM issue, if you have 1GB and you don't think the lag is bad, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I have incredible lag at all times.

Here is a link to the Tech Support Forum. It should be more helpful and more appropriate.

I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the sheer number of people who are all doing the same thing.

I got the game Monday night (right after they opened servers) and played all night with minimal lag. I got on yesterday and my computer would freeze / lock up every few steps. Very very bad. I toned the settings all the way down and it seemed to help for the most part, but it was still bad.

At any rate, I left the city into Antonica and the lag dropped to almost nothing. Also, when I'd go into one of the instanced newbie zones (4 instances of one zone? wow, there's lots of people on... =P) the lag decreased.

So give it a week or two and see how the game runs before you make any major hardware purchases.

And my system is a bit similar to yours:

Athlon XP 2500+
nVidia GeForce4 TI-4600
512 MB PC3200 400 Mhz RAM

its still too early to compare EQ 1 Brazaar lag with EQ2. because there are ALWAYS more 100+ characters in Bazaar.

but later on when the market/brazaar economy start to develop in EQ2, you will see Player start to setup stores in either Qeynos or Freeport, the brazaar 2 will be coming up. So will the lag.

Not necessarily true. The bazaar is set up in your individual house or in other player's houses. Most people will set up a bazaar in their inn room; an instanced zone off of the main city zone, ultimatly lessening the lag. The only toons who will be in the cities with a bazaar up are the toons in either the non-instanced guild or player housing.

Personally, I think it's the perfect time to compare mass toon lag on each game. Now is the time when there are always tons of toons in one city zone, since everyone is 1-15, with the majority being under 10.

I think it's a hardware issue. I run on a 3.2 GHZ p4, radeon 9800 pro gfx card, and 1gb of ram and the lag has not been an issue whatsoever. When I upgraded to this computer the lag in EQ1 completely vanished as well. Bazaar isn't even laggy.

I think its your ram. I occasionally get lag to but its nothing to fuss over i mean its only noticeable because im a nit picker. Balance out your settings, perhaps turn the shadows off and if your able to, buy more ram.

I also have no lag problems, running at High Graphics settings, I am running an AMD 2800, with 1 Gig of pc3700 ram, and the Geforce FX 5900 XT OC, personally I didn't plan on being able to run in High Graphics, but I wont complain....My new computer will be built by tomarrow, it is a P4 3.06 (plan to clcok to 3.6) 1 Gig of ram, and the Geforce 6900 GT. Just upgrade your ram if you are having trouble, and it wouldn't hurt to invest in a new graphics card
