Activation Key already used (Steam) FFXIVFollow

#1 Mar 01 2016 at 2:00 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I have log in in this forums only to ask this question, because this problem has ploughed my day.

One of my friends bought this game (FF XIV) a year ago (or so) and downloaded it. We used the 30 free days, had a lot of fun and, as we started University, et the game apart for a while. Now we want to play it again, but he has a problem: He desintalled the game and, after downloading it again, it asked him to write the activation code that had already used when he originally downloaded FFXIV. He has no means to connect to his original account, and when we went to Mog Station, we saw that his account of FFXIV doesnt appear anywhere, as if he had never played.

So, how can he link his account of steam (with 52 hours played to FFXIV) to Mog Station? Or how can he just go to the normal launcher, instead of the one which asks for the activation key?

Sorry about my spelling and all that things, i am not quite used to the english language. But please, if anyone has an answer that could help, i would be incredibly grateful.

I'd just use the normal launcher and forget about Steam entirely... as long as he had a valid account at one point (and he had to if he played the trial), he should have a Square Enix ID and password he can log in with. If he can't remember either of those, there should be a process to retrieve them.

The point is that if he uses the normal launcher it asks him about the registration key, which has (obviously) been used as he used it over a year ago. There is nowhere to put his ID and password, as usual. The game treats him as if he had never played before.

It's been a long time since I've downloaded the launcher fresh, but I did do so when I rebuilt my PC. Is there no button or link he can push along the lines of "I already have a Square Enix ID" or something like that?

Idk how to put images XD so lets try this:

This is what appears in my launcher

With the usual" SE ID " and "SE password". Also, if I go to my Mog Station i can see that my account is subscribed to FFXIV and Heavensword

In his launcher, that is what appears;

Go to images after searching this photos in internet, the photos I posted are the first ones to appear, and sorry xD

FINALLY IT WORKED.

God how I hate the ploughing official site of FFXIV. My friend had like an account linked to steam which had already been linked to his account of FFXIV. We had to go trhough like 7 site in order to find the ******* correct account. God im tired xD

Ya, sadly, it's better than it's ever been. That being said, the whole payment system/homepage is still atrocious compared to most other games. I still remember LotRO, the whole process was on ONE page I believe. That's it, subscribe, cancel, payment info. It was clean, simple, they WANTED your money. They really need to have everything on one simple page in terms of managing your subscription. It shouldn't lead to another, and another. Just one.

Yeah I've rarely had to work as hard to give a company my money as I have with SE over the years. You'd think this would be easy... but no.

It's always been that way. SE are obsessed with taking the simple/obvious things and turning them into astrophysics.
