Here's the results of a CT run. You can look at the raw XLS datasheet here.

Here's my rig for reference, and here's the Ark page for my processor. My GPU's datasheet is here.

I got mine for $2000, yes, with another $300 for a three year warranty on it. $2400 is the cost of the more souped up package.

Sad thing is, even though this is technically a clone of the desktop I spent around $1000 on over the years, it still doesn't run XIV as smoothly as the desktop does, because even one of the best laptop GPUs on the market isn't as good as its desktop counterpart that is a year old.

I bought my laptop shortly after 1.0 launch to run XIV on full. And it did, for a couple weeks. Just as well as my desktop, hell, sometimes better (I could finally sit in my recliner, watch Big Bang, and geek out on my lappy. [:heaven:]). And then it got hot. And then it got REALLY hot. Then the fan burnt my leg....through the cooling mat. And that was the end of me playing on my laptop.

So even if you get the newest and greatest laptop, you're probably underestimating just how much strain newer games put out and how much heat they can generate. You're better off throwing in for a desktop than blowing through heat pad after heat pad trying to keep such a confined space cool.

Initially I Smiley: eek when I saw your temps, but then I Smiley: grin when I saw the threshold for the CPU. That's pretty impressive for a mobile CPU that doesn't draw all that much power. Smiley: nod

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

After a long time of waiting, I purchased FFXIV for my PC, and my PC is running it at 8 FPS on the lowest functions. I also only have a laptop. Am I screwed?

whoo! I'll just jump in headfirst into a game with a toaster before knowing what I pay for!
