FFXIV:ARR - FC, Play Tips, Customer Svc Info & TransitioningFollow

With all the posts and confusion out there, I thought it might be worthwhile to compile some information regarding the transition, beta, pre-order, etc. I felt it better to include URL's rather than pasting everything in just because it would be so ugly. Hope this helps!

ETA: By request, I'm adding/changing some stuff in this post. Specifically, the addition of Zam member-created guides, play tips, etc. I'll be adding in links to posts as time goes by. Since most of the questions regarding how the actual transition have dropped off a bit, I'm going to push those items down to the bottom, and put the tips up here at the top. I'll be digging into the forums over the weekend to try to find everything I can. If you made a post you feel should be included, please reply to this thread and I'll do what I can to include it. (Wint please feel free to edit/format/whatever as you see fit!)

Thanks!

I have some advice if you are still trying to reach support. Follow the list below:

1.) Get a ticket number from the support website. Skip this step, it's a hassel.
2.) Call the number above and wait. Be prepared to have over an hour of wait time. Someone WILL eventually answer.
3.) When someone finally answers, they will ask for your Ticket #. Tell them that their Ticket number system had an error and you could not get one.
4.) They will immediately and without question give you a ticket number. Please write this down in case you have to call back.
5.) Do not under any circumstances tell SE support that you have given your account information to anyone at all, ever. Not even your mother. Or your twin brother. If you have given your account info to someone, who cares? SE does. Don't tell them.

At this point someone will actually help you. Chat support and email support are not good at all. But phone support is actually functional after the initial wait.

You WILL NOT have any trouble verifying that you are the account holder in the event of a lost key fob or software app. If you stay on the phone someone WILL answer. The is by far the best way to get actual support fro SE. Email can take days and days. Phone Support is a waste of a couple hours but at least you will get what you need.

Thanks for the reply Xoie. I've incorporated your suggestion, just with a bit of a wrinkle. The links you included just go to the splash page for each region. I also noticed this when I was copying/pasting like crazy when I started the post lol. I've snipped out the relevant portions and included them individually. Hope you don't mind Smiley: wink

And Wint, if you were directing your question about editing to me; please feel free to edit as you see fit!

Is there any information on whether or not the bonus items are applied to more than one character?

I know in 1.0 when I made a new char my Asuran Armguards and Onion Helm were in my inventory when he landed in Eorzea, so I would expect the same to happen this time around.

I don't remember where I heard this, but I remember hearing that existing 1.0 CE characters will be able to pickup the 2.0 CE items from the mailbox. Hoping to see what the stats of the "new" asuran armbands and onion helms are in "Gridania".

Also, people that played 1.0 and dropped it during the free period can look up their character on the lodestone to see what their progress was if they are trying to decide to start fresh or not. Simply go to the lodestone website at:

http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/index.html

Once there, type your character's name in the top box between the Log In button and the Community Search button and click on the Community search. As long as you can at least remember your first name, you'll see a list of characters and servers. You can then click on Character Profile and it will list the progress you had in all jobs before you stopped playing.

Great post thank you!

I do have a question for anyone that might know. I own v1.0 for PC but will be buying v2.0 for PS3. If I use my v1.0 account to sign in to the PS3 can I use the key from my new PS3 v2.0 to activate a new PC account?

You'll need to use the PS3 code to be able to play it on the PS3 so you'd have to use the same account if you wanted to play on both.

The picture under "What does early access mean?" Says that you must contact customer support to receive the early access code.... There is no way that is accurate. If it is then someone needs to be facepalmed xD. I expect mine in my email.

It may be that is something that Australians had to do as that where the picture comes from. When I originally made the post there was some discussion about how early the "Early Access" would be. I was just trying to point out it would be a week.

But yeah, when I pre-ordered, it said I would receive an email with instructions about what to do when the time came.

Nice. Thanks for adding the Targeting Guide LebargeX. I hope that people will find it in the first few days of Phase 4 and also at the Official Release. Being able to target is just essential to enjoying the game. I really want as many people to enjoy FFXIV:ARR as possible!
