Official Male Mi'qote ScreenshotFollow

I like the model, but have to agree it is a bit Hume looking. Part of the allure of playing a fantasy game is to pick something other than Hume (for me anyways) because I am diving into a new world and new persona.

I would agree that the male Mi'qote could look a bit more masculine and of course, having fur on a cat isn't unheard of.

I think the overly human traits for non-human races will turn a lot of the american market off. Americans have never been likely to strap on cat ears and go parading around, or known for their obsession with smooth skinned slender effeminate males. But if thats not their target audience, so be it.

If i ever move to 14 (unlikely), i would forever be saddened by the humanized mithra, and wouldnt touch those male versions with a 10 foot pole.

Not a fan of non-human races being humans with wigs. Whats the point in playing a different race if you just stick on an accessory? If i wanted to be a guy with a cat ear headband, id go put on a cat ear headband damnit.

Yay for catboys! While I prefer Mithran character design as it's more cat-like overall, rather that just cat ears and tail, I do rather like the new male Mi'qote. I'm all for diversity, but I'm much more disappointed that they designed a female "Galka" (Roegadyn) which conceptually looks rather more slender and attractive than their heavy male counterparts.

I need to see that. Now.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

The leader of one of the 'grand companies' in FFXIV is currently the only female Roegadyn in-game, but they're going to be playable come release:

I actually quite like them, but I really don't think they should've made all the races so human-looking. If anything they should've gone the other way from XI's designs because of the additional technology they have now. Mithra and Galka could've been made to look more aggressive/feral, elvaan could've been made to look far more interesting than looking like humans who've been stretched.

All that said, if I go back to XIV in 2.0 I'm probably going to have a male mithra looking boss in the warrior AF equipment.

Eh, I wouldn't be surprise if they just put hume ears on an elvaan model then added some unique hair styles.

I can't quite say I agree with an earlier poster and the implication that NAs favor anthropomorphic races, though. Furries get a bad rap. Next to humans, elves probably take second place by basically being human with pointy ears. Beyond that, you tend to get more game-specific where race choice tends to tie into faction choice, as well. I can't see most people picking an Orc in WoW because they thought Orcs were awesome, but rather, they wanted to be "the bad guy" from the lore perspective. Same with Aion and the Asmodians (Though NCSoft didn't help here in giving their race some favorable things...). From there, some just go by cute factor or sexual arousal, the latter working more in a Mithra's favor not so much because they're catgirls, but because their outfits are skimpy and movements may catch an eye.

It's still fun watching furry-phobe mithra fanatics flounder when you try to tell them mithra have fur all over. The preference of the fan art world also speaks volumes in that they're often depicted as humans with the ears and some minor facial tweaks, but rarely with the yellowish skin/fur.

I'm still puzzled as to why they just went with renamed XI races anyway. That's some seriously lazy development, and is one of the main reasons I've been turned off of XIV from the beginning.

They should have just done new races entirely.

Shark people for instance.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:
