This post is more for the benefit of players I've befriended and partied with over the years.
I've been playing Final Fantasy XI now since 2004. I've levelled three mages to 75, completed dozens of storylines and enjoyed hours of death and destruction in Dymamis. Still, there's a lot I was unable to do and there is a small pang of regret there for the events I could not do due to time constraints or problems with finding a team for them, usually both.
I've played a lot of MMO's and despite its problems, Final Fantasy is still one of the better games out there. It's draw is magnetic, and I will sorely miss the friends I have made over the years.
Yes, if you haven't figured it out by now, im leaving the game for good. I will not be returning. This is not a break this is a final farewell.
The majority of my reasons for leaving are personal ones, but its no secret that I've become somewhat disillusioned about SE's plans for the game. While they have made some interesting developments over the years, recent times have seen more 'gimmicky' updates rather than any which truly address any of the big problems in the game.
This latest update seems targeted at highlighting those problems rather than fixing any of the. Such as drawing attention to the lack of Summoner support by giving them a weak 'aura' effect which few would want to use anyway. Drawing attention to the difficulties in finding members for various events by creating a crafting system which relies on even more stringent criteria.
Despite it's problms however, I still love the game. Even through all my rantings on the forum, this game has been a joy to play. Hard and good times both. Whatever the future has in store for Vana'diel, im sure it will continue to be just as entertaining.
Goodbye everyone. See you all in Final Fantasy XIV...
