Gamers are often the scapegoats of the media sadly, i've covered that in my diploma course and almost had to tell my teacher to shut the @#%^ up when she (why is it usually a woman?) said out loud to the class that game players were losers.

Um, as a married reasonable woman gamer.. I'm going to tell you that woman have a often bent view. If it doesn't involve them, it's not important. So obviously your teacher is someone who thinks Video games are a waste of time, and probably will drop dead from all the stress she's not venting in some game.

I can fast for 3 days+ and barely lose a couple pounds, my metabolism is -that- slow.

Fasting is an extremely poor way to lose weight. Your body thinks it's starving and goes into starvation mode where it hangs onto every little calorie it has. Then you tend to over eat to try and compensate for the hunger you feel when you finally come off of fasting, thus packing on even more weight than you may have potentially lost.

If you want to lose weight and kick start your metabolism, you need to eat 5 to 6 small (HEALTHY) meals throughout the day. That and doing cardio will help you burn the weight off and keep you from over-eating to put it back on.

The easiest way to get yourself into a healthy eating routine is to set an alarm to eat a small meal about once every 3 hours. Even if you don't feel like eating, Have a small cup of yogert or something, 2 handfuls of peanuts maybe. The body's system shuts down and thinks your starving when you forget to eat regularly. + Fasting is unhealthy because after a point your body starts eating your body fat out of desperation, Which is why you'll feel sick. And try to balance the types of foods you're eating. Too much of any one thing is bad for you. Good-luck!

Sorry to say it, but me and my husband are both Asthmatics but we don't let ourselves be lazy just because of it. We have different types. But both of us work long hours at work, and tend to use games to unwind. If it wasn't 2am when my husband gets home, I'm sure he wouldn't mind riding his bike (which he rides to/from work on anyway). In my case I will only need an inhaler if I'm trying to make for the 100 meter dash. Being that only major exertions such as distance running are a bane to breathing like a normal human being, I still make it a point to exercise daily. Being careful not to over-do it.

People have different degrees of athsma. I get so sick during my allergy season I can barely walk across the room without loosing my breath. I also have been diagnosed with lowere lung capacity from normal people and can't do more than 10 minutes of areobic activity. I'm as active as I can be. If you didn't notice from all the work both outside and inside the house that I do I'm actually very active though I am sick.

There are some people even more sick than I am. My point is that often people are fast to point a finger at people and say "well I have the same condition and I can run marathons" when they don't stop to think there are others more sick than them. They may have weight struggles not because they are lazy but because of circumstance.

I don't like being nearly hospitalized 2 times and year. I don't like hardly being able to do anything for 4 months out of the year. Some folks are like this year round. I had a cousin die from athsma she had it so bad. If you couldn't get outside and are nearly bed ridden you might get depressed and gain weight. You might loose weight like another chronically ill gamer friend I have.

The point I'm trying to make is that people with weight problems and depression shouldn't be put down. Not everyone is fat because they are lazy. They often have real difficult circumstances in reality and like to escape from it just for a little while.

This study didn't get deep into things and put blame in the wrong place.

Did they survey non-gamers? Cause seriously, the average American is probably 35, overweight, and depressed. Smiley: um

^ This. Plus, c'mon... I know if it's on the internetz it HAS to be true and all, but one narrow study does not a fact make.
