SE is only doing something now about the stolen accounts since it went public on the news as to what was going on. SE really didnt care cuz they was still getting there money.

WRONG! SE was researching the issue to see if it was a valid concern. So many players on this game "claim" to get hacked only to find out later they shared their password with friends or family. Most endgame LS's pass around their account info because they hold items needed for LS events. Compound that with all the cheaters of this game that use "illegal 3rd party mods/hacks/cheats/dats" and you arrive at a conclusion that there was a good possibility nothing was wrong. By saying because SE was still getting their money and that alone is good enough is very short-sighted. These RMT that hacked the accounts aren't playing by the rules and its only a matter of time before they get bant too. So basically, SE would be losing 2 paying members, the legit player and the banned rmt. Of course the RMTer will come back, but you get my point.

If its so short-sighted then why did it take SE that long to react. It wasnt till around it went public that SE became fully involve in it. With all the customer calls and emails about it they should have reacted alot sooner then they did. I call bullcrap on them researching it first.

Let me respond to your reply by asking you a simple question. How many people do you know personally that had their accounts hacked? I can't speak for you, but 99% of the people I know had gave out their Playonline info. So myself and others I know were skeptical about these rumored hackings. You're right about one thing though. SE should of taken the emails/calls more seriously that the typical "We'll look into the matter" b.s.

I'll tell you another thing. It's still unproven just how many hacked sites there is out there. We all just jump on the FFXIAH.com and Somepage bashing and blame it all on them as a community. For all any of us knows, all the hacks could have been from gil selling sites. Which means the hacked accounts could in theory be gil buyers. Again there is still no proof as to where all these hacks took place so how can you blame SE for most of the problems. They told us NOT to use 3rd party apps, but 99% of you guys out there have Unoffical Windower plus plug-ins. SE's only down fall was their crappy handling of compromised accounts once it could be proved who's account was compromised. If that's what your saying, fine.

Gil selling sites only ask for your server and character name.

As long as you download Windower and plugins from the official site, they are harmless.

You know this info how? Seriously, don't you think that those RMT websites would be direct cause? If Allah, somepage, and FFXIAH could be compromised, don't you thing a RMT site would be even worse? It's pure genius if you think about it. This game is like crack and these RMT hackers sell gil and then steal it back to sell again.

Don't give me that crap about harmless downloads. Mr hacker himself Taj is about the shadiest "legit" player in FFXI.

I should note that my post is only a theory based on the facts thus far. So many players want to blame SE when it's their own fault for giving out passwords, downloading illegal 3rd party software, or buying gil. If you doubt the buying gil theory, don't you think that the RMT would of quit already considering the lower playerbase of FFXI compared to WoW and newer games? I mean c'mon 500k to millions of subscribers is a huge freaking difference.
