I dunno, running with the whole 3-5 minutes to register thing, way back when SE said the PC/PS2 split is about 50/50, with the majority of PS2 in Japan while the PC is NA (and elsewhere). Since then, the 360 version's come, so let's just say the split's now 2:2:1 PC:PS2:360. When the expansion went live, I don't remember reading about registration problems until the PC version finally hit the shelves. Let's be generous and assume 100k people got in between the PS2 and 360 crowd before this point (because let's face it, people want in first to exploit everyone else).
This leaves 125,000 PS2, 75,000 360, then the 200,000 PC in just throwing BS numbers around for the Wed/Thur reg times. There are 1440 minutes in a day, which means at 3-5m per registration, 288-480 individuals should've registered. Of course, this assumes only one person can go at a time which would be insanely stupid. Let's say 25 can go at once. 7200-12000 in a 24 hour period seems more like what's going on when you compare the collective cries of *********** I've been spamming!" and "Yay, got in!" Though, as I type this, those numbers should be about 10300-18000.
So, we've got a lot of users to go, don't we? Oops doesn't even really begin to cover it. Especially when this issue never surfaced with the registration of CoP or ToAU. I had a lovely little 5:30am-10:15pm shift for work yesterday, so I didn't really get to spam. Tried a few times when I got home, went and watched a movie, tried a few more before I went to bed, then woke up about an hour and did some clicking between reading. Still not in. Still annoyed. Though, I still have to go to work again in about a half hour so I'll have 6 hours of everyone else getting the chance to at least try and get in, but the numbers will still be staggeringly depressing when I get home.
I'd like to be playing what I bought on my day off tomorrow, but it's not seeming likely. Frankly, spamming retry's got **** to do with the issue when you realize 2 other expansions came and went. There's something else we're simply not being informed of and being left to speculate over, and that's just the easiest scapegoat.
