If you are able to log in but getting DCd shortly after, you need to zone. When you zone, you will probably get DCd again, but when you log in, you should be in the new zone and your connection should be fine.
It took me a couple of DCs to run to the Maze zone from the crag, but after I zoned I was able to log in without any trouble.

except some zones have things you have to push to zone, which is where I'm d/c'd so I'm stuck :(

If your on the airship your done for been riding basty-jeuno for 4.5 hrs now. Maybe its been hijacked by gs transporting illegal bots.

I can comfirm this.
The zones that have been a problem for me so far are:
Sacrarium
Yuhtunga Jungle
I have zoned twice and I still get receiving 0. I even went as far as to turn off security and try again. Didn't help. I can log in and then i watch as my 100% drops to 0%. Nothing seems to work.

I'm currently stuck in Davoi, and I d/c in Lower Jeuno also.
I mentioned that I'm stuck right? I'm hoping for emergency maintenace within two hours.

I just got this problem when zoning into Port Jeuno. I'm curious, where are most of you guys from? What is your internet service? I live in NY so I have Optimum Online as my provider, and we all know the huge problem S-E had with them about a year ago.

I was in mog house in whitegate, was able to log out of the mog house into the city but it didnt do the trick, no way out of here without clicking -im in NY with Optimum Online also
I am able to log in fine on my mules in Windy and Jeuno

Yeah if you're in a special zone that you can't manually zone in/out of, then you're pretty much screwed for now.

Well, It only affects one character of the three on my account. My mules work fine so it's not a backbone issue.
When you log in and start to R0...just run for a zone...if you don't make it, log in again and repeat

Well I can't even log in, and for some unknown reason - NOT non-payment - it said I didn't have any valid content IDs for FFXI. Try to figure out the status of my content IDs in POL, and I can't get anywhere.

I'd just love to know why it's only some people. 95% of my linkshell are fine and happily killing Byakko's all night long right now.

Anyone encountering this noticing problems with the /search command? I've noticed I'm able to /search some zones and not others. It's kind of hit and miss... a lot of misses.

I guess certain areas are run through different backbones. Or maybe certain areas for only certain characters run off of the same account, are run through these backones. >.>

Hey.. I understand these are the problems we encounter when dealing with networks. All we can do is grin and bear it.
It just stings more so than usual because:
1) SE doesnt seem to know what the problem is
2) SE hasnt posted anything aknowledging that there is a problem. And I mean on their main site... not through ppl kind enough to post their online support.
3) We just had a huge maintenance
4) The effects are seemingly random... so many havent been touched by this
5) And most importantly.. today was to be the day I burned through most of my beastmen seals.. it was planned.. I mean why can't SE keep track of my important days. sheeesh. ( well.. maybe thats a little much)
Anyhow..
The "leaving the area technique" worked for me when I was trying to get into Port Jeuno (for my BCNM orb >< ) from Saur. Champ. But then I tried to go around through Rolanberry Fields.. got stuck in another dead zone,, and now I dont even get a chance to see myself before I get locked into a dc flush.
And to the person who asked... I'm on Vancouver Island.. west coast of Canada.
